The 2024 Dodge Durango makes an unexpected entrance just when it appeared that the heyday of the Hellcat V8 was coming to an end. This powerful SUV was first debuted in 2021 as a special edition trim level. It then made a comeback in 2023, and it is now a permanent trim level for yet another model year.

On September 1, Dodge issued a statement declaring the continuance of the Durango SRT Hellcat through 2024, thereby confirming this information. Interestingly, the 2023 model, which was practically the same as the first 2021 version, has not changed. This implies that the 6.2-litre Hellcat V8 engine in the 2024 Durango SRT Hellcat still generates a remarkable 710hp.

It’s important to note that other Dodge vehicles, like the Charger, Challenger, and Ram TRX, are gradually getting rid of this engine. The Ram TRX’s Hellcat-powered days are expected to end after a final manufacturing run of 4,000 cars, while the Hellcat era in Chargers and Challengers is expected to expire by the end of this year.

BMW has announced a partnership with Amazon to utilise their cloud computing technology for the development of their semi-autonomous driver assistance system. This advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) will be integrated into BMW’s upcoming Neue Klasse electric cars, set to debut in 2025. This move underscores a broader trend among traditional automakers aiming to enhance their vehicle technology, especially ADAS, to remain competitive with Tesla.

ADAS encompasses software systems designed to assist drivers with tasks like lane changes and parking, and automakers are progressively introducing more such features as they progress toward autonomous driving. Tesla’s ADAS, known as Autopilot, serves as an example of this trend.

The effective functioning of ADAS relies heavily on data processing, given the essential hardware components like cameras and semiconductors. Artificial intelligence plays a pivotal role in these assisted driving systems.

Initially, when Tesla opened its order books in Malaysia, only the Tesla Model Y was available. Interestingly, the Model 3 was not among the options. However, this has recently changed as Tesla Malaysia introduced the new Tesla Model 3 ‘Highland’ facelift to the Malaysian market, making it one of the first countries globally to have access to this model. The delivery of the initial batch is scheduled to occur before the end of 2023.

This development offers a welcome choice for those who initially placed orders for the Model Y but may now prefer the Model 3 Highland for various reasons. This could be due to their preference for a sedan, the updated features of the Model 3 Highland, such as the improved 17-speaker sound system, the longer 629km WLTP range offered by the Model 3 LR, or other personal preferences. Fortunately, Tesla Malaysia is accommodating these changes without penalizing customers.

In 2021, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars made a game-changing announcement. They revealed their dedication to electric technology by introducing Spectre, an all-electric car set for its first customer deliveries in late 2023. Moreover, Rolls-Royce committed to having their entire lineup go fully electric by the end of 2030, marking a historic shift in the brand’s direction.

Now, the much anticipated Rolls-Royce Spectre has made its grand entrance into the Malaysian market.  Mr. Muller-Otvos, the CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars said they chose the name ‘Spectre’ from the start because it aligns with Rolls-Royce’s legacy of innovation, perfection, and a touch of mystery. The car they’re presenting embodies these qualities, making ‘Spectre’ a fitting name.

In 2003, Rolls-Royce introduced the Phantom, marking the beginning of the Goodwood era and representing Rolls-Royce 1.0 with its unique architecture. Its successor saw the creation of the ‘Architecture of Luxury,’ an all-aluminium spaceframe used for Cullinan and Ghost, signifying Rolls-Royce 2.0. Now, with the Spectre’s fully-electric powertrain and Decentralized Intelligence, we’re entering the era of Rolls-Royce 3.0, marking a new chapter in super-luxury motoring.

The designers found inspiration in various areas like fashion, art, and yacht design, focusing on yacht concepts for their clean lines and smart use of reflections.

At the front, there’s a unique split headlight design and the widest-ever Rolls-Royce grille. The grille has smoother vanes for better aerodynamics and a polished stainless steel finish that enhances the car’s appearance through reflections.
