OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia Showcases Automotive Art at LahLahLand 2025

OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia brought a fresh sense of creativity to LahLahLand 2025 as the Official Auto Partner, transforming the event into a platform where automotive design met urban culture.

The collaboration introduced three distinctive “Art Cars,” demonstrating how vehicles can also serve as expressions of style and individuality.

Held from 1 to 2 November 2025 at the Mines International Exhibition & Convention Centre (MIECC), LahLahLand 2025 offered an energetic mix of streetwear fashion, live performances, product launches, esports tournaments, and art-driven experiences.

As part of its showcase, the brand unveiled two JAECOO J5 units and one J7 PHEV, each transformed into “Art Cars” featuring custom wraps inspired by the event’s visual themes.

The designs were developed in collaboration with local creatives to ensure they captured the festival’s bold and dynamic identity.

Bermaz Motor has officially launched the All-New Mazda BT-50, bringing a new level of refinement, technology, and practicality to Malaysia’s pickup truck segment.

The BT-50 embodies Mazda’s KODO: Soul of Motion design philosophy, translating the brand’s sense of movement and elegance into the shape of a pickup. Every surface and contour has been carefully crafted to balance strength and proportion, giving the vehicle a poised and confident appearance.

The front end features Mazda’s latest signature wing grille, flanked by slim LED headlamps that give the truck a sharp, focused look. A redesigned bumper adds visual width and a sense of stability, while smooth side panels and muscular wheel arches reinforce its off-road capability. At the rear, the truck adopts sleek LED tail lamps and a reprofiled tailgate, framed by a bold Mazda emblem in chrome. The result is a truck that looks composed in urban environments yet purposeful off the beaten path.

Inside, the BT-50 takes cues from Mazda’s passenger car range, offering a cabin focused on comfort, ergonomics, and driver connection. Inspired by the brand’s Jinba Ittai philosophy — the harmony between driver and machine — every control, display, and surface has been arranged for intuitive use.

Government Raises Fuel Quota for E-Hailing Drivers to 800 Litres a Month

The government has increased the fuel quota for full-time e-hailing drivers under the BUDI95 programme to 800 litres per month, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced in the Dewan Rakyat today.

Anwar, who is also the finance minister, said the new quota allows drivers to travel about 5,000 kilometres each month and will come with certain conditions.

Earlier, on October 13, the government had already raised the quota from 300 litres to 600 litres, helping around 58,000 e-hailing drivers. The latest increase follows driver appeals and fuel usage data shared by e-hailing companies.

For the general public, Anwar said the 300-litre monthly limit is more than enough since most people only use about 98 litres. He added that only 0.7% of users go beyond the limit, usually when travelling to their hometowns.

The brand, long admired for its blend of performance, design, and unmistakable Italian flair, is set to re-enter the local market under a new boutique-style business model backed by parent company Stellantis.

Stellantis ASEAN Managing Director Isaac Yeo confirmed that Alfa Romeo’s return will take place within the next two years, though not through a conventional mass-market setup. Instead, the brand will operate via a hybrid model system, managed by independent partners rather than directly under Stellantis Malaysia. This approach will allow Alfa Romeo to maintain an exclusive presence while catering to a niche audience of enthusiasts who appreciate the brand’s heritage and craftsmanship.

For those familiar with the marque, this marks an exciting new chapter. Alfa Romeo once enjoyed a loyal following in Malaysia during the late 1990s and early 2000s, when models such as the 156, 147, and GT captivated drivers with their sharp handling and passionate design language. However, limited after-sales support and shifting market dynamics led to the brand’s quiet exit from the Malaysian market. Its upcoming return signals not just a revival, but a redefinition of Alfa Romeo’s role in Malaysia’s evolving premium car landscape.

All-New Proton Saga: 1.5L, CVT – 120PS with ADAS Features!

For more than four decades, the Proton Saga has been a household name in Malaysia — a true national icon that has transported millions since its debut in 1985. Over 2.1 million units have found homes worldwide, cementing its status as Proton’s most trusted and enduring model.

Now, in 2025, the legend continues with the arrival of the fourth-generation Proton Saga, a model that blends new technology, modern design, and Malaysian value in perfect harmony.

Under the bonnet, the new Saga is powered by a 1.5-litre i-GT engine producing 120PS and 150Nm of torque, paired with a CVT transmission, while the lower variants continue with the 4-speed automatic (4AT) gearbox. The upgrade promises a smoother, more refined driving experience without compromising on efficiency.

Visually, the 2025 Saga embraces a completely refreshed design. It now sports a sculpted hood, a new front grille featuring Proton’s “Sulaman Songket” pattern, full LED projector headlamps with DRLs, and a sleek LED tail light bar reminiscent of the Proton X50. Completing the look are new 15-inch alloy wheels, available in both two-tone and single-tone finishes.

Safety sees a major leap forward. The new Saga now comes equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), six airbags, and structural reinforcements, including a cross-member front seat support and centre pillar reinforcements. Key safety features include Front Collision Warning, Front Departure Alert, Intelligent High Beam Control, and Lane Departure Warning.

In fact, the 2025 Proton Saga has made history as Malaysia’s first A-segment car to receive ASEAN NCAP recognition for successfully passing the AEB (Autonomous Emergency Braking) Motorcyclist Test. Additional safety assists include Door Opening Warning, Rear Collision Warning, Lane Change Assist, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

On the inside, the cabin takes a big step up in comfort and style. It features a 16-inch integrated dual screen setup — combining a 9-inch infotainment display with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. Connectivity is also top-notch, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto offered as standard.

Design details reflect Proton’s local touch, with a flat-bottom electric power steering wheel for a sportier feel, “Congkak”-inspired air vents, and wave motifs inspired by Malaysian beaches.

Two new colours join the range — Deep Marine Blue and Space Grey — further enhancing its appeal.

During a short drive, the new Saga impressed with its improved refinement, sharper handling, and greater stability through corners. It feels more mature, confident, and sophisticated — clearly a major upgrade from its predecessor.

Pricing details will be revealed soon, but one thing is certain — the 2025 Proton Saga continues the proud legacy of being the car for every Malaysian, now with the technology and design to match modern expectations.
