Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ) telah mengumumkan panggil semula lebih 41,000 kenderaan daripada pelbagai jenama utama, termasuk Honda, Audi, dan Mercedes-Benz, berikutan kebimbangan keselamatan. Langkah ini diambil bagi menangani kemungkinan kecacatan struktur, peralatan, atau sistem yang boleh meningkatkan risiko kemalangan.

Menurut laporan FMT, Ketua Pengarah JPJ, Aedy Fadly Ramli, menegaskan bahawa penarikan balik ini adalah langkah pencegahan penting untuk mengurangkan potensi bahaya akibat kecacatan yang dikenal pasti.

Penarikan balik ini melibatkan model berikut:

  • Honda: 36,678 unit model Honda Civic dan CR-V
  • Kia: 4,245 unit Kia Sorento XM
  • Ford: 288 unit Ford Everest
  • Audi: 168 unit Audi e-tron GT dan RS e-tron GT
  • Mercedes-Benz: 18 unit pelbagai model Mercedes-AMG
  • MAN: Model trak S TGS 580 e

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has announced a recall affecting more than 41,000 vehicles, including models from Honda, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz, due to safety concerns. The move aims to address potential structural, equipment, or system defects that could lead to accidents.

As reported by FMT, JPJ director-general Aedy Fadly Ramli emphasised the importance of the recall, stating that it was a necessary step to prevent potential risks posed by the identified defects.

The recall covers 36,678 units of Honda Civic and CR-V models, 4,245 units of the Kia Sorento XM, 288 units of the Ford Everest, 168 units of the Audi e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT, 18 units of the Mercedes-Benz AMG and S 580 e, as well as 291 MAN TGS trucks of various models. Perbincangan penggabungan antara Honda Motor Co. dan Nissan Motor Co. telah gagal secara rasmi, dengan ketegangan memuncak akibat tuntutan yang dianggap tidak boleh diterima oleh Nissan. Seorang pegawai kanan Nissan menyifatkan syarat yang dicadangkan oleh Honda sebagai “tidak sopan,” menyebabkan perundingan terhenti.

Punca utama kegagalan perbincangan ialah desakan Honda supaya Nissan menjadi anak syarikatnya, satu syarat yang ditolak mentah-mentah oleh Nissan. Honda juga mencadangkan agar Nissan menghapuskan sistem kenderaan hibrid proprietarinya, e-Power, dan menggantikannya dengan teknologi HV Honda.

Cadangan ini dianggap sebagai penghinaan terhadap warisan teknologi Nissan, yang selama ini dikenali dengan inovasi sendiri. Nissan enggan mengorbankan identiti dan kebebasannya, terutamanya dalam pembangunan teknologi kenderaan elektrik (EV) dan hibrid.

The merger discussions between Honda Motor Co. and Nissan Motor Co. have officially collapsed, with tensions running high over the conditions proposed by Honda. A senior Nissan official expressed strong discontent over what he described as “rude” demands made by Honda during the negotiations.

At the core of the disagreement was Honda’s insistence that Nissan become its subsidiary, a condition that ultimately led to the breakdown of the talks. Honda also pushed Nissan to restructure its business and abandon its proprietary hybrid vehicle (HV) system, e-Power, in favour of Honda’s own HV technology. These proposals were perceived as an affront to Nissan’s reputation, particularly given its historical branding as the “Nissan of technology.”

From Honda’s perspective, integrating Nissan’s sales channels with its hybrid system would have improved economies of scale, potentially lowering procurement costs for both companies. However, Nissan, once a leader in electric vehicle (EV) production, has struggled to keep pace with Toyota and Honda in the hybrid segment. A senior Honda official asserted that Honda had a clear advantage over Nissan in HV technology, further fueling tensions.

Nissan Motor Co. sekali lagi mencari rakan kongsi strategik selepas menolak syarat cadangan penggabungan dengan Honda. Pembuat kereta itu, yang berdepan penurunan keuntungan dan pengurangan tenaga kerja, kini dilaporkan menarik minat baharu daripada syarikat elektronik Taiwan, Foxconn.

Berikutan laporan mengenai potensi penglibatan Foxconn, saham Nissan melonjak sebanyak 6%, manakala saham Honda meningkat lebih 8% selepas Nissan menarik diri daripada penggabungan. Rundingan yang gagal itu berpotensi membentuk semula industri automotif Jepun dan memberi kesan besar kepada masa depan Nissan dalam sektor kenderaan elektrik (EV).

Rundingan Penggabungan dengan Honda Gagal

Pada Disember lalu, Nissan dan Honda mengumumkan rancangan untuk bergabung di bawah satu syarikat induk, satu langkah yang bakal menjadikan mereka pengeluar kereta ketiga terbesar di dunia bersama Mitsubishi Motors. Namun, sumber dalaman yang biasa dengan rundingan tersebut mendedahkan bahawa terma yang disemak oleh Honda akan meletakkan Nissan dalam peranan sebagai anak syarikat dan bukannya rakan kongsi setara. Syarat ini dianggap tidak boleh diterima oleh lembaga pengarah Nissan, sekali gus menyebabkan kegagalan rundingan tersebut.

Nissan Motor Co. is once again searching for a strategic partner after rejecting Honda’s proposed merger terms. The automaker, grappling with declining profits and workforce reductions, is now reportedly drawing renewed interest from Taiwanese electronics giant Foxconn.

Following reports of Foxconn’s potential involvement, Nissan’s stock surged by as much as 6%, while Honda’s shares rose over 8% after Nissan’s withdrawal from the merger. The failed negotiations could reshape the Japanese automotive industry and significantly impact Nissan’s future in the electric vehicle (EV) sector.

Merger Talks with Honda Break Down

In December, Nissan and Honda had announced plans to merge under a single holding company, a move that would have made them the world’s third-largest automaker alongside Mitsubishi Motors. However, insiders familiar with the discussions revealed that Honda’s revised terms would have placed Nissan in a subsidiary role rather than as an equal partner. This condition was deemed unacceptable by Nissan’s board, leading to the collapse of the negotiations.

Honda Malaysia mencatat kejayaan membanggakan dengan penjualan lebih 11,300 unit Honda CR-V Generasi Ke-6, sekali gus mengukuhkan kedudukannya sebagai SUV Mid-Size No.1 pada tahun 2024. Dengan pegangan pasaran sebanyak 36% dalam segmennya, CR-V terus menjadi pilihan utama rakyat Malaysia.

Pengarah Urusan dan Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Honda Malaysia, Encik Hironobu Yoshimura, melahirkan rasa gembira atas sambutan luar biasa terhadap CR-V. “Sejak dilancarkan pada Disember 2023, model ini telah menerima permintaan pasaran yang tinggi, menyumbang kepada pertumbuhan segmen sebanyak 40% tahun ke tahun. CR-V kini merupakan model ketiga terlaris dalam barisan Honda Malaysia untuk 2024,” katanya.

Peningkatan Permintaan untuk Varian Hibrid dan Petrol

Kejayaan ini turut dipacu oleh varian hibrid 2.0L e:HEV RS, yang menyumbang 20% daripada jumlah jualan CR-V. Dalam segmen SUV Hibrid Mid-Size, e:HEV RS menguasai 87% pasaran, mencerminkan kepercayaan tinggi pengguna terhadap teknologi hibrid Honda.

Sementara itu, varian petrol kekal popular, dengan varian E menjadi pilihan utama pelanggan, menyumbang 40% daripada jumlah jualan. Encik Yoshimura turut menzahirkan penghargaan kepada pelanggan atas sokongan yang berterusan.

Honda Malaysia has achieved a significant milestone with the sale of over 11,300 units of its flagship model, the 6th Generation CR-V, securing its position as the No.1 Mid-Size SUV in 2024 with a commanding 36% market share in the segment.

Honda Malaysia’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Hironobu Yoshimura, expressed his delight at the CR-V’s outstanding market performance. “Since its launch in December 2023, the CR-V has received strong market acceptance, further solidifying its dominant position. This growing demand is reflected in its remarkable 40% year-on-year growth within its segment. Notably, the CR-V ranked as the third best-selling model in Honda Malaysia’s lineup for 2024.”

Impressive Sales Contribution from Hybrid and Petrol Variants

The introduction of the 2.0L e:HEV RS hybrid variant has significantly boosted demand, contributing to 20% of overall CR-V sales. Within the Mid-Size SUV hybrid segment, the e:HEV RS commands an 87% market share, reflecting strong consumer confidence in Honda’s advanced hybrid technology.

Walaupun dominasi SUV dalam jualan global, Honda kekal teguh mempertahankan legasi sebagai pengeluar kenderaan yang mesra peminat. Model seperti Honda Civic Si, Civic Type R, serta Acura Integra dan Integra Type S, terus memperkukuh reputasi ini dengan keseimbangan antara prestasi trek dan kehebatan jalanan. Namun, kenyataan terbaru Presiden Honda Racing Corporation (HRC), Koji Watanabe, mencadangkan bahawa Honda mungkin bersedia untuk membawa prestasi ini ke tahap yang lebih tinggi—dengan model ultra-performance baharu.

Adakah Model Berprestasi Tinggi Honda Akan Muncul?

Dalam wawancara terkini, Watanabe mengisyaratkan bahawa Honda sedang mempertimbangkan pembangunan model yang memanfaatkan sepenuhnya teknologi perlumbaan HRC: “Hari ini, saya tidak dapat berkongsi pelan yang tepat, tetapi ya, kami harus mencipta model prestasi seperti itu bersama teknologi perlumbaan HRC,” kata Watanabe.

Beliau turut mendedahkan bahawa HRC Amerika sudah mula bekerja dalam projek bahagian prestasi, menandakan bahawa usaha ini sedang giat dijalankan.

Model-model baharu ini dijangka membawa teknologi perlumbaan terus ke kenderaan pengeluaran, memberikan pengalaman memandu yang menghubungkan litar lumba dan jalan raya lebih rapat berbanding sebelum ini.

While SUVs dominate global sales, Honda continues to uphold its legacy as a builder of accessible, enthusiast-driven cars. Models like the Honda Civic Si, Civic Type R, and their Acura counterparts, the Integra and Integra Type S, exemplify this commitment with their perfect blend of street prowess and track-ready performance. But Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) President Koji Watanabe has suggested the possibility of taking things even further—a tier above the already impressive Type R and Type S trims.

Higher-Performance Models in the Works?

In an interview, Watanabe hinted that Honda is considering the development of ultra-high-performance models using genuine HRC racing technologies. “Today I cannot tell the exact plan yet, but yes, we should create such kind of performance model together with HRC racing technologies,” said Watanabe. He also confirmed that Honda’s American division (HRC US) has already begun work on developing performance parts.
