Negligent vehicle maintenance has been identified as a significant cause of accidents involving commercial vehicles, according to the Director General of the Road Transport Department (JPJ), Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli.

Speaking at a press conference during the Commercial Vehicle Special Operation at Batu 5, Jalan Bangi Lama, he highlighted that many of these accidents stem from non-compliance with technical standards required for roadworthiness, which is often due to poor maintenance practices, according to Harian Metro.

Bermula Ahad ini, 22 September, dua lokasi tambahan di Johor akan mula beroperasi bagi memudahkan pendaftaran dan pemasangan tag Pengenalan Frekuensi Radio (RFID) Permit Masuk Kenderaan (VEP) untuk pemilik kenderaan warga Singapura. Menurut Bernama, lokasi baharu ini adalah di pejabat Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ) di Taman Daya dan Akademi Pengangkutan Jalan Wilayah Selatan di Larkin, masing-masing dengan kapasiti untuk menampung 800 dan 400 kenderaan sehari.

Pada masa ini, satu-satunya lokasi untuk pemasangan tag RFID VEP ialah Pusat Pengumpulan VEP (VCC) di Danga Bay, yang mempunyai kapasiti terhad sebanyak 300 kenderaan sehari. Dengan penambahan dua lokasi baharu itu, keseluruhan kapasiti pemasangan harian akan meningkat kepada 1,500 kenderaan, menurut Ketua Pengarah JPJ Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli.

Starting this Sunday, September 22, two additional locations in Johor will begin operating to facilitate the registration and installation of Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags for Singaporean vehicle owners. According to Bernama, these new locations will be at the Road Transport Department (JPJ) office in Taman Daya and the Southern Region Road Transport Academy in Larkin, with capacities to accommodate 800 and 400 vehicles per day, respectively.

Currently, the only location for VEP RFID tag installation is the VEP Collection Center (VCC) in Danga Bay, which has a limited capacity of 300 vehicles per day. With the addition of the two new locations, the overall daily installation capacity will increase to 1,500 vehicles, according to JPJ Director General Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli.

Kementerian Pengangkutan (MOT) dan Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ) telah melancarkan sistem plat nombor piawai baharu, JPJePlate, yang kini diwajibkan untuk kenderaan elektrik (EV) berkuasa bateri dan hidrogen baharu. Fasa perintis sistem ini telah bermula dengan matlamat untuk memperkenalkan piawaian kebangsaan bagi plat nombor kenderaan, bermula dengan EV dan kenderaan hidrogen.

Maklumat Utama JPJePlate:

  • Fasa Perintis: Digunakan untuk kenderaan sel bahan api hidrogen dan EV yang baru dihantar semasa fasa perintis.
  • Pemilik EV Sedia Ada: Boleh memesan JPJePlate mulai 9 November 2024, dengan pendaftaran minat dibuka sekarang.
  • Kos dan Pakej: Harga setiap set JPJePlate ialah RM98, termasuk kos penghantaran kepada rakan pemasangan yang dibenarkan. Setiap pakej mengandungi plat hadapan dan belakang, pelekat RFID cermin depan, skru anti-kecurian, dan aksesori pemasangan lain.

The Ministry of Transport (MOT) and the Road Transport Department (JPJ) have officially initiated the pilot phase of the new standardised number plates, known as JPJePlate. This new system is mandatory for all new battery-powered and hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (excluding motorcycles) delivered from today onwards. The objective of JPJePlate is to introduce a national standard for vehicle plates, beginning with electric vehicles (EVs) and hydrogen-powered cars.

Key Details of the JPJePlate:

  • Pilot Phase: Initially applicable to new electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles delivered during this phase.
  • Existing EV Owners: Existing EV owners can begin ordering JPJePlate starting November 9, 2024, although registration of interest is available now.

Pricing and Package Information:

  • Cost: Each JPJePlate set is priced at RM98.
  • Availability: Currently, JPJePlates can only be ordered by car manufacturers and dealers via the official JPJePlate website.
  • Package Contents:
    • 1x Front vehicle plate
    • 1x Rear vehicle plate
    • 1x RFID windshield sticker
    • 1x Set of anti-theft one-way screws
  • Delivery: The RM98 cost includes delivery to an authorised installation partner, but plates will be sent directly to dealerships at this stage.

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has announced an extension of counter-operating hours by one hour in selected states, starting today, to better accommodate customer needs.

The extended hours will apply on Mondays and Fridays at JPJ branches in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, and Penang, while in Johor, the extension will be on Sundays and Thursdays. These days have been identified as having high customer traffic.

The initiative to extend operating hours will be gradually implemented in other states as well. A Governance Committee will also be established to focus on improving the quality of JPJ services, particularly at counters, to continuously monitor and enhance government service delivery.

Saibullah Zaid Abdul Halim, penolong pegawai penguat kuasa di Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ) Pulau Pinang, 46, mendapati dirinya terjerat dalam prosiding undang-undang berikutan dakwaan rasuah seperti yang dilaporkan oleh The Star.

Pertuduhan terhadap Saibullah, yang menetap di Sungai Jawi, Pulau Pinang, dibawa ke hadapan hakim Mahkamah Sesyen Datuk Ibrahim Osman hari ini, di mana dia membuat pengakuan tidak bersalah. Tuduhan mencadangkan Saibullah menerima rasuah berjumlah RM3,300, seperti pertuduhan yang difailkan mengikut Seksyen 165 Kanun Keseksaan.

Dakwaan rasuah ini kononnya diterima daripada Badrul Hisyam Hamid, seorang pengarah di sebuah syarikat pengangkutan, melalui pemindahan bank daripada akaun milik Fatimah Abdullah ke dalam akaun isteri Saibullah, Hazirah Ismail. Urus niaga yang dipersoalkan dilaporkan berlaku antara 4 Oktober 2017 dan 29 Mac 2018. Jika sabit kesalahan, Saibullah berkemungkinan menghadapi akibat yang teruk, termasuk hukuman penjara maksimum dua tahun, denda kewangan, atau gabungan kedua-dua.

Saibullah Zaid Abdul Halim, a 46-year-old assistant enforcement officer at the Penang Road Transport Department (JPJ), has found himself entangled in legal proceedings following allegations of corruption as reported by The Star. The charges against Saibullah, who resides in Sungai Jawi, Penang, were brought forth before Sessions Court judge Datuk Ibrahim Osman today, where he entered a plea of not guilty.

Accusations suggest that Saibullah accepted bribes totalling RM3,300, as per charges filed under Section 165 of the Penal Code. These alleged bribes were purportedly received from Badrul Hisyam Hamid, a director at a transportation company, via bank transfers from an account belonging to Fatimah Abdullah into the account of Saibullah’s wife, Hazirah Ismail. The transactions in question reportedly occurred between October 4, 2017, and March 29, 2018.
