McLaren, jenama yang sinonim dengan supercar dua tempat duduk berprestasi tinggi, kini sedang memasuki fasa baharu dalam perjalanan korporatnya. Syarikat itu baru-baru ini diambil alih oleh CYVN Holdings, sebuah entiti yang mempunyai kaitan dengan dana kekayaan Arab Saudi, sebelum digabungkan dengan syarikat permulaan EV dari UK, Forseven.

Apa yang bakal terjadi pada masa depan McLaren masih belum jelas sepenuhnya, namun beberapa petunjuk sudah mula kelihatan. Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif baharu, Nick Collins, mendedahkan kepada Car Magazine bahawa McLaren kini mempertimbangkan jenis kenderaan baharu, bukan lagi sekadar kereta sport ringan seperti sebelumnya.

Collins tidak mengesahkan sama ada McLaren akan menghasilkan SUV, tetapi mengakui buat pertama kali jenama itu akan membina kereta dengan lebih daripada dua tempat duduk. Ini merupakan perubahan besar bagi sebuah syarikat yang sejak awal berpegang teguh pada formula supercar eksklusif.

McLaren may have recently unveiled the Artura sports car and the track-focused W1 hypercar, but questions still linger about what the future holds for the legendary British brand. The company has just undergone a major shift in ownership, having been taken over by CYVN Holdings, an investment arm of Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, and merged with UK-based EV startup Forseven.

What this means for McLaren long-term is still uncertain, but some clues have started to emerge. Speaking to Car Magazine in the UK, new CEO Nick Collins outlined parts of the plan, and it looks as though McLaren is preparing to stretch beyond its traditional playground of lightweight, two-seat supercars.

Collins stopped short of confirming whether an SUV is on the way, something McLaren has teased before, but he did reveal that the brand will move into what he called “adjacent segments.” Crucially, he confirmed a future model will arrive with more than two seats, which would mark a significant departure from McLaren’s history of strictly sticking to the supercar formula.

McLaren telah memperkenalkan model edisi khas, JC96, iaitu versi istimewa daripada 750S yang dicipta khusus untuk meraikan kejayaan pasukan perlumbaan mereka di Jepun pada tahun 1996. Pada ketika itu, McLaren F1 GTR muncul juara dalam Kejohanan Pemandu All-Japan Grand Touring Car Championship, satu detik bersejarah yang kini diabadikan melalui model baharu ini.

Sebanyak 61 unit sahaja JC96 akan dihasilkan, dan kesemuanya akan kekal di pasaran Jepun. Rekaan luaran tampil berani dengan corak ‘Tiger Stripe’ yang diinspirasikan daripada jentera perlumbaan asal. Ia turut dipadankan dengan rim ringan 15-jejari serta perincian unik yang mengingatkan kepada dunia sukan permotoran.

McLaren has pulled the covers off the JC96, a special edition of the 750S built to honour the brand’s success in the All-Japan Grand Touring Car Championship almost three decades ago. Back in 1996, the team secured the Drivers’ Championship with the iconic McLaren F1 GTR, and this latest creation serves as a nod to that victory.

Just 61 units will be produced, and they will all remain exclusive to the Japanese market. Each example carries a distinctive ‘Tiger Stripe’ livery inspired by the racing F1 GTR, matched with ultra-lightweight 15-spoke forged alloys and bespoke cabin touches that echo the motorsport connection.

The exterior is dressed with unique detailing across the splitter, rear wing and door mirror caps, while the colour palette includes Memphis Red, Titanium Silver, Ice White and Graphite Grey. Those seeking something more unusual can explore McLaren’s bespoke paint programme. Finishing touches come in the form of gloss black roof and diffuser elements, striking gold brake callipers with red McLaren logos, and further subtle accents across the body.

This technological tour de force is matched by an advanced active aerodynamics system inspired by Formula 1, including ground-effect innovations that elevate both grip and agility.

The W1 joins the revered McLaren ‘1’ lineage, taking its place alongside two legendary models—the McLaren F1 and the McLaren P1™. McLaren Automotive telah memperkenalkan model edisi khas supercar 750S, dinamakan McLaren 750S Le Mans, sempena memperingati ulang tahun ke-30 kemenangan bersejarah mereka dalam perlumbaan 24 Hours of Le Mans pada tahun 1995. Penghasilan model eksklusif ini terhad kepada hanya 50 unit di seluruh dunia, menjadikannya antara kereta edisi khas paling jarang dan diidamkan dalam sejarah pengeluaran McLaren.

Pada 18 Jun 1995, McLaren F1 GTR bernombor 59, dipandu oleh JJ Lehto, Yannick Dalmas dan Masanori Sekiya, mencipta kejutan apabila muncul juara keseluruhan dalam perlumbaan ketahanan paling berprestij di dunia. Kemenangan ini turut disertai oleh tiga lagi kereta McLaren yang turut menamatkan perlumbaan dalam kelompok lima terbaik—satu pencapaian luar biasa bagi penampilan sulung jenama itu di Le Mans.

McLaren Automotive has unveiled a special edition of its 750S supercar to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its historic victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1995. This exclusive model, dubbed the 750S Le Mans, marks both a tribute to the brand’s motorsport legacy and its forthcoming return to the event’s top-tier category in 2027. Only 50 units of this special edition will be produced, making it one of the rarest and most desirable McLaren series production cars to date.

On 18 June 1995, the McLaren F1 GTR bearing the number 59 secured an overall win at the world’s most prestigious endurance race. Piloted by JJ Lehto, Yannick Dalmas, and Masanori Sekiya, the car led a fleet of McLarens that finished with three additional entries in the top five—an extraordinary debut for the marque at Le Mans. In a fitting tribute, two McLaren GT3 EVO race cars based on the 750S are set to contest the LMGT3 class at the 2025 edition of the race, just days before the anniversary.

The design of the 750S Le Mans draws direct inspiration from the victorious F1 GTR. The car is available in Le Mans Grey—mirroring the original race car’s livery—or McLaren Orange. A gloss black carbon fibre roof scoop and a set of 5-spoke LM wheels complete the exterior homage. Each car also comes equipped with the newly developed MSO High Downforce Kit (HDK), which includes a raised carbon fibre active rear spoiler with integrated endplates, a pronounced front bumper with an enlarged carbon splitter, and a rear wing, all of which collectively boost aerodynamic downforce by 10% over the standard 750S. Additional features such as gloss black louvres and a new under-wing panel enhance both form and function.

McLaren W1 menandakan kemajuan monumental dalam sejarah automotif McLaren, membawa teknologi hibrid terkini dan prestasi luar biasa ke tahap baru. Lebih tiga dekad selepas McLaren F1 menetapkan penanda aras bagi hypercar, dan satu dekad selepas P1 merintis penggunaan hibrid dalam segmen tersebut, W1 melangkaui batas dengan menjadi kereta jalan raya paling berkuasa yang pernah dihasilkan oleh McLaren.

McLaren W1 dikuasakan oleh enjin 4.0 liter V8 turbo berkembar baru, MPH-8, yang menjana 916hp dan mempunyai ketumpatan kuasa yang luar biasa sebanyak 230bhp per liter. Powertrain and Performance

At the heart of the McLaren W1 is the all-new MPH-8 twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine, which delivers a jaw-dropping 916hp and boasts the highest power density of any McLaren engine ever—an astounding 230 bhp-per-litre. Complementing this powerful V8 is an advanced hybrid system called the E-Module, which adds 342hp through a compact radial flux electric motor and a 1.4 kWh battery pack. The total combined output reaches an impressive 1,258hp and 1339Nm of torque.

This power allows the W1 to sprint from 0-100km/h in 2.7 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 349km/h, matching the McLaren P1. The hybrid system also offers a minimal electric-only range of 2km.

Lightweight Design and Aerodynamics

One of the most remarkable features of the W1 is its lightweight construction. Despite its hybrid components, the car has a dry weight of just 1398kg, only 4kgs heavier than the P1. The W1 rides on Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tires as standard, with options for P Zero R tyres for daily driving or P Zero Winter tires for colder conditions.

Interior and Technology

Inside, the W1 offers a minimalist but high-tech cockpit, featuring an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. It includes USB-A and USB-C connections, along with a small storage shelf that offers 116L of space behind the seats.

Exclusivity and Pricing

As expected from such an extreme hypercar, the McLaren W1 is priced at a hefty $2.1 million. McLaren plans to build only 399 units, all of which are already sold out.
