Shell welcomes back customers to stations with rewards

Although there is still a Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) active, Malaysians are able to return to their working places and also travel around freely (except to other states which is prohibited). As motoring routines return, more people will be visiting the petrol stations and to welcome customers back, Shell Malaysia is offering extra rewards through its latest campaign, #AkuRindu.

The campaign will take place at all Shell stations nationwide for 4 consecutive days – from Monday, June 1 to Thursday, June 4, 2020. During this campaign, there are 4 special offers at Shell retail stations nationwide. The extra rewards will help customers on their journey.

On the first day, customers will get 5X BonusLink Points when they swipe their BonusLink Card and purchase any Shell fuels. The second day will have 50% discount on any Shell Advance AX7 Motorcycle Oil, limited to the first 10 customers per Shell station.

On the third day and fourth days, customers can purchase either a Cornetto Ice Cream (Vanilla or Chocolate) or Goodday Milk (Full Cream or Chocolate, 250 ml) for only RM1.00 each at Shell Select stores nationwide, while stocks last. Additionally, customers will also enjoy a ‘Buy 1-Get One Free’ offer at all Deli2go outlets, for the Hexagon Doughnut Deli2Go pastry and the Sardine Puff Deli2Go pastry (while stocks last).

War Against COVID-19: Shell contributes to frontliners, the nation’s heroes

In the War Against COVID-19, the frontliners are those in the healthcare services, especially the ones who have been working day and night in challenging conditions to save lives. These are our Malaysian heroes whose sacrifices and dedication will always be remembered.

Shell Malaysia demonstrated their support and care for the nation’s frontliners during this fight against COVID-19 through a series of outreach initiatives aimed to lessen their worries and challenges. Essential items such as hand sanitizers, mineral water, food and beverages were among the items contributed to medical frontliners at Hospital Sungai Buloh, Hospital Kuala Lumpur, and Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun in Ipoh.

Additionally, through Shell stations located across the country, the company has contributed essential items to local communities and frontliners. The initiatives include supplying electricity for lamps and fans as well as temporary tents, along with contributing food and drinks to local authorities.

“The act of caring for others and looking out for each other is essential for all of us as Malaysians to survive, and thrive through these uncertain and certainly testing times. Shell is committed to the well-being of the communities where we operate, and we want to do everything we can to help our frontliners in the fight against this global pandemic. We recognize the challenges faced by these brave Malaysians and we hope these care packages, made up of essential items will give our frontliners some needed support,” said Shairan Huzani Husain, MD of Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd and Shell Timur Sdn Bhd.

He added: “We also have our very own Shell frontliners who are on the ground, every single day, taking care of our customers’ needs, and ensuring the nation’s heroes can get to work and do what they need to for the safety of every Malaysian. As one of Malaysia’s essential services, we are helping to fuel the nation through the dedication of these very frontliners. We are also ensuring care packages are provided to them as our gesture of thanks for their courage in ensuring Shell stations remain open and ready to continue serving customers. They are all our heroes.”

Besides the care packages, Shell and BonusLink have joined forces to launch an initiative to enable customers to contribute and show their gratitude to the nation’s frontliners. Over the past week, BonusLink members have been invited to show their support to the frontliners by simply contributing a minimum of 100 points (equivalent to RM1) which will be channelled directly to the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) COVID-19 Fund.

Shell has pledged to match RM1 for every 100 points (RM1) donated during the period. All donations to Tabung COVID-19 will be used to assist MOH to purchase medical equipment, PPEs and other medical necessities.

Shell urges all Malaysians to stay safe by staying at home during the Movement Control Order (MCO), and by practicing meticulous personal hygiene as advocated by the Ministry of Health. Together, we can flatten the curve of COVID-19 infections.

Lucky Shell customers in Kuala Lumpur and Negeri Sembilan win child carseats

Your little ones deserve the best protection when they are travelling with you in the car, and that means having them securely seated in a Child Restraint System (CRS), typically a childseat. Until this year, there was no compulsion for drivers to use CRS but the fatalities involving small children has been high and the authorities therefore decided that if people won’t use their common sense, then they need to be forced to do so by law.

A child in a car with a proper CRS has a lower risk of getting injured compared to an unrestrained child, in the event of a road accident. As pointed out by the World Health Organisation, a major problem today is child injuries, disabilities and even fatalities caused by road accidents. The Malaysian Institute of Road Safety (MIROS) found that only 30% of car drivers use child carseats.

As part of their initiative to support the call in enforcing the mandatory use of child carseats, Shell is giving away 138 child carseats. The campaign is on until April 12,2020 at 136 Shell stations in the Kuala Lumpur and Negeri Sembilan regions. Up to 17 customers will stand a chance to win a child carseat every week since the campaign began last month.

Naturally, the winners are delighted to get a free carseat and in the case of Lim Yen Wei, it means that they won’t have to swap the seat between his car and his wife’s car as each one can have its own installed all the time.

Another winner, Mohd Faizal Abdul said: “My 3-year-old niece used to travel without a child carseat. Now, she gets to travel on the road safely. I am very glad that Shell is promoting road safety by rewarding customers with child car seats! This is a good initiative by Shell.”

As of this week, 70 lucky parents have already won child carseats. To win one, it takes only two simple steps: No.1 – customers need to spend a minimum of RM40 in a single receipt at participating Shell stations in Kuala Lumpur and Negeri Sembilan; No. 2 – customers need to submit their details via a contest form at the station. Upon completion of these two steps, customers will stand a chance to win a child carseat that is given each week.

“At Shell, we always want to make life’s journey better for our customers. This is a gesture from some of our stations to promote the use of child carseats. Often, many parents do not know how important it is to have suitable Child Restraint Systems. By rewarding customers with child carseats, we hope we can educate parents to protect their children when travelling on the road,” said the MD of Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd and Shell Timur Sdn Bhd, Shairan Huzani Husain.

Shell launches new fully synthetic oil for compact car engines

Compact cars have always been popular in Malaysia and with the increasing volume of traffic on the roads and congestion in cities, they are certainly even more in demand. Furthermore, small cars are usually more affordable and economical to run.

However, the small engines in compact cars have to work quite hard too. Thankfully, with modern technologies, they are able to generate fairly high outputs which, with their lighter weight, gives brisk performance.

To ensure that these hardworking engines are well protected, Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd has launched a new low-viscosity, fully synthetic engine oil which is recommended for engines with capacities below 1200 cc.

The new Shell Helix ECO 0W-20 engine oil is specifically developed for small cars where the engines are often subjected to high stress, stop-start driving conditions in the city. It promises better fuel economy and superior protection for engine parts against wear and friction. It also features a low evaporation formula that always helps keep the engine well lubricated and protected.

“The new Shell Helix ECO, with its lower viscosity, can help lower fuel consumption and ensure a smoother ride. Car owners will now be able to enjoy savings from lower maintenance costs as it is a premium fully synthetic engine oil that is able to cleanse your engine as well as provide optimal engine protection until your next oil change,” said May Tan, General Manager, Shell Lubricants Marketing.

The new synthetic oil is available in a 3.5-litre pack which is the usual volume for a small car engine’s oil change. The pack has recommended retail prices of RM143.50 in Peninsular Malaysia and RM144.20 in Sabah and Sarawak. Besides Shell stations, it is also available at authorised Shell Helix workshops nationwide.

In conjunction with the launch of Helix ECO 0W-20 in Malaysia, every 3.5-litre pack comes with a free sunshade. This offer is valid from March 1 2020, while stocks last.

The day when you no longer have to ‘lose’ 50 sen for every reload of the Touch ‘n Go (TnG) card is fast nearing with more and more places waiving the charge. The latest is Shell Malaysia which has announced that all its stations along the PLUS Expressways (NKVE and ELITE) and the East-Coast Expressway (ECE) will no longer charge the 50 sen.

The broader expansion to all stations along these expressways is an addition to Shell’s recent initiative in waiving the TnG top-up fee at all stations along the North-South Expressway (NSE) earlier in January. As part of Shell’s effort, the expansion to the number of stations from the earlier initiative also includes 25 other Shell stations at various locations nationwide.

“Shell understands the challenge Malaysians face against the rising cost of living. We know it can be difficult to save when there are increasing necessary expenses like food, transportation, utilities and education, which form a huge part of one’s expenditure. This drives us to help Malaysians save more and ultimately, get more out of their journeys. The inaugural Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards 2019 saw Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd receiving an award for introducing next-generation lubricant solutions for its business-to-business (B2B) customers that incorporate artificial intelligence (AI), mobile applications and wearable technology.

Its customer support capabilities range from basic enquiries to troubleshooting and solution-driven conversations. It even provides technical documents for reference, an initiative taken by Shell to communicate more efficiently with its customers.

Shell LubeAnalyst – Available in a convenient mobile application, this data-driven diagnostic tool hosts millions of data points that date back to 30 years and cover more than 700,000 components on its cloud-hosted database. Shell LubeAnalyst has proven to be invaluable in helping determine the ‘health’ of both lubricants and equipment to avoid unplanned downtime. The mobile application makes it easier to register oil samples and access necessary information. Customers can submit samples using QR codes from virtually any location, thereby eliminating manual, paper-based processes and minimising risks of human error. This service has enabled Shell industrial lubricants customers to reduce total costs of ownership of heavy machinery.

Shell Wearable Technology – Shell’s introduction of wearable technology enables its technical field personnel to conduct on-site equipment inspection and communicate remotely in real-time with other Shell technical experts in Malaysia and other parts of the world for accurate diagnosis and prompt resolution. The wearable headset is equipped with a camera capable of capturing still images and projecting `live’ video feed, a microphone and a high-resolution micro-display screen. It is completely hands-free, voice-activated and rated for use in restricted zones where potentially hazardous materials are present.

‘Nak Ekstra RM20,000?’ is the name of Shell Malaysia’s latest campaign to welcome 2020. Throughout December 2019 until February 9, 2020, Shell customers have the opportunity to cash in an extra RM20,000 each week! On top of the RM20,000 Grand Prize, Shell is also giving away RM1,000 to 20 consolation prize winners on a weekly basis.

Extra sum of money for a brighter 2020
Though a new year should bring hope for better things, we cannot deny some of the worrying thoughts running in the minds of most Malaysians. A study found that 86% of Malaysians are concerned about the cost of basic needs and high-priced homes, followed by 76% who are in debt to sustain their cost of living while the remaining 74% are uneasy about loss of source of income. This insight supports the ‘Nak Ekstra RM20,000’ campaign, which provides Malaysians with an opportunity to receive an extra sum of money for a brighter 2020.

How to participate
To participate in the campaign requires only two simple steps: Step 1 – customers need to spend a minimum of RM40 in one receipt at any Shell station nationwide; Step 2 – customers need to submit their details via a physical contest form with receipt or scanning a QR code to submit details and receipt online. They will then be eligible to win the weekly cash prizes.

Additional rewards
In line with the ‘Ekstra’ theme, Shell is also offering additional rewards to customers this December in partnership with Touch ‘n Go and BonusLink. Throughout December 2019 until February 9, 2020, customers will receive an extra RM5 cashback when they spend minimum RM40 at Shell by paying with Touch ‘n Go eWallet. This special offer is limited to two cashbacks per Touch ’n Go eWallet account per month, and only for the first 300,000 transactions at Shell.

Additionally, Shell is offering extra rewards to loyal customers through BonusLink. On December 4,5 and 6, 2019, customers will receive 10x BonusLink Points for everyone litre of fuel purchased with the swipe of a BonusLink Card at any Shell station nationwide, which is 10 times extra than the normal Points offer. Thereafter, on December 12, 2019, customers can redeem their BonusLink Points at Shell to receive a 50% rebate, allowing them to go further with their Points.
