Sime Darby Auto ConneXion (SAC), the exclusive distributor for Ford in Malaysia, has introduced two new Ford models to the Malaysian market. One of these models is the top-tier Ranger Platinum, expanding the Ford Ranger lineup.

The New Ranger Platinum offers exceptional comfort and a host of premium features while maintaining the Ranger’s renowned capability and versatility. It is exclusively available in a double cab configuration and is powered by Ford’s 2.0L Bi-Turbo diesel engine, producing 210PS and 500Nm of torque. This power is transmitted through the Ranger’s electronically controlled part-time four-wheel-drive system, a 10-speed automatic transmission, and an e-Shifter.

The exterior of the Ranger Platinum features unique enhancements, including a distinctive grille, 20-inch alloy wheels (a first for the Ranger), Platinum hood badging, Silk Chrome trims, Matrix LED headlamps (another first for the Ranger), a dampened tailgate, and Ford’s innovative Flexible Rack System (a first for the class), Swing-in-Place Roof Rails, and Power Roller Shutter. It is also available in the Equinox Bronze paint colour.

Inside, the Ranger Platinum boasts premium appointments, including quilted leather-accented seats, a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12-inch infotainment screen with the latest SYNC@4A, B&O speakers, ambient lighting, E-Shifter, Active Park Assist 2.0, heated and ventilated front seats, 10-way power adjustment with memory function for the driver (a first for the class), and more. The interior design draws inspiration from the Everest, featuring a closed shelf and upper glovebox.

The New Ranger Platinum is highly versatile, equipped with Ford’s Flexible Rack System and Swing-in-Place Roof Rails that can be adjusted to two different lengths. This allows owners to easily transport items of various sizes. The system is designed to be operated by one person and locks into five different positions along the length of the load box. Additionally, a pop-up crossbar increases the height of the loading platform to match the Swing-in-Place Roof Rails.

The Ranger Platinum’s price in Peninsular Malaysia starts at RM183,888 (on-the-road without insurance), with variations for other regions. It comes with a five-year manufacturer’s warranty or 160,000km, whichever comes first, and offers the option to extend coverage with a Premium Care extended warranty package (EWP). Extended Service Plan (ESP) packages tailored to specific customer needs are also available.

Customers who book the New Ranger Platinum during the launch event at Bamboo Hills in Kuala Lumpur from November 3-5, will receive a complimentary Xiaomi Phone Holder with an automatic open and close feature upon vehicle delivery. Additionally, they will receive a Ford Ranger Getaways Discount of RM1,000 via a promo code at the time of vehicle delivery.

Ford is set to expand its Ranger midsize pickup lineup by introducing a plug-in hybrid version in early 2025. This Ranger PHEV is designed to offer a zero-emission range of over 45km, allowing for longer trips without relying on charging infrastructure. It’s engineered to retain the towing, payload, and off-road capabilities of its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterparts.

The powertrain of the Ranger PHEV combines a turbocharged 2.3-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and a battery of undisclosed capacity. While specific specs were not revealed, Ford promises that the plug-in hybrid system will deliver “more torque than any other Ranger.”

Revving up the excitement for automotive enthusiasts, Ford has unleashed a jaw-dropping marvel: the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD. Blurring the lines between the racetrack and the road, this limited-run masterpiece takes cues from its GT3 race car counterpart, elevating the driving experience to a new echelon. Let’s dive into the exhilarating world of the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD, where cutting-edge technology meets untamed power.

The Mustang GTD derives its name from the IMSA GTD racing class, in which its GT3 variant competes in the United States. Contrary to rumours, the Mustang GTD retains its traditional front-engine layout, housing a supercharged 5.2-litre V8 in the front. While exact output figures are pending, Ford’s target exceeds 800hp, marking the automaker’s most powerful Mustang to date. The engine boasts a redline surpassing 7,500 rpm and incorporates a titanium exhaust with an active valve system.

Shortly after news broke about Ford’s plans to reveal a mid-engined Mustang at Monterey Car Week, a video of the new car emerged online. The footage showcases what is undoubtedly the most extraordinary Mustang ever created.

A clip that circled the internet showcases the car known as the ‘GTD’ as it is placed on a stand. A significant point of interest is the distinct mid-engine arrangement, which deviates from the usual conventional concept. Ford appears to have positioned the engine behind the front axle, resulting in a technically mid-engined configuration, albeit different from the traditional rear mid-engined layout observed in the C8 Corvette. Alternatively, there is a chance that the engine has been cleverly installed behind the seats.

The Ford Mustang’s V8 engine is a crucial component of its character, and the business has no plans to replace it with batteries and an electric motor anytime soon.

Most of us think Mitsubishi and Subaru when it comes to rallying. However, Ford has been in the game for a very long time. Back in 1978, Hannu Mikkola, a seven-time winner of the 1000 Lakes Rally in Finland and who won the RAC Rally in Great Britain four times, would triumph for Ford on the last Lombard RAC Rally of the 1978 season, with a Ford Escort RS1800. And who can forget the legendary Ken Block and his gymkhana stunts with a variety of Fords.

Ford had made a mark in rallying with its Escort and Sierra models, then introduced the Focus RS and Fiesta RS later on. But when was the last you heard a Mustang rallying?
