With quicker charging times and greater ranges, electric vehicles (EV) have come a long way. Despite this, some customers still experience range anxiety, which is understandable. When travelling, you wouldn’t want to run out of power.

Ford recently came up with a concept to allay any worries about running out of charge. The American manufacturer recently submitted a patent application for an electric vehicle spare battery system located on the roof of your car.

Bill Ford Jr., executive chairman of Ford Motor Co., stated that his business is putting “all hands on deck” to prepare for electric vehicles because the US is “not quite ready” to compete with China in the manufacture of EV’s.

According to Bill, China has developed very quickly, and they’ve developed them on a large scale, and now they are exporting. China is on track to overtake the United States as the second-largest exporter of passenger cars, which could fundamentally alter the global auto market and challenge the dominance of its rivals and trading partners in the auto sector.

But in the midst of it all, the Ford Ranger Wildtrak is the silent King. The Europeans never really liked SUVs because they were seen as big, heavy, consumed excessive fuel and were therefore not good for the environment. Pick-up trucks have been moderately tolerated but generally, they have preferred their small vans and stationwagons if they required something more utilitarian to carry stuff.

Of course, over the past 10 years, European carmakers themselves have also begun offering SUVs but they are more passenger car-like. They are compact and use passenger car platforms and drivetrains, so they are still largely cars with the looks of SUVs. And they are in great demand too…
