The Proton e.MAS 7, Malaysia’s first national electric vehicle (EV), has over 2,500 bookings, reflecting the nation’s growing enthusiasm for sustainable mobility. Announced by PRO-NET, a subsidiary of Proton, the achievement underscores the strong demand for innovative and eco-friendly transportation solutions in Malaysia. Available in two variants—Prime and Premium—the Proton e.MAS 7 delivers impressive performance and range. Equipped with 49.52 kWh and 60.22 kWh battery packs, the EV offers a WLTP range of up to 410 km. It also supports advanced charging capabilities, including 11kW AC charging and DC fast charging of up to 100kW. Priced competitively, the e.MAS 7 starts at RM109,800 for the Prime variant and RM123,800 for the Premium variant. As part of an exclusive launch offer, the first 3,000 customers receive an RM4,000 rebate, reducing the prices to RM105,800 and RM119,800 for the respective variants.

Proton made history today as it took its inaugural step into the electric vehicle (EV) market with the launch of the highly anticipated Proton e.MAS 7, Malaysia’s first national EV. The launch, officiated by Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, marks a significant milestone in Malaysia’s journey towards sustainable mobility and a lower carbon footprint.

A Collaborative Effort for a Greener Malaysia

The Proton e.MAS 7 represents the culmination of over 700,000 man-hours of engineering and testing by Proton and its strategic partner, Geely. The electric SUV underwent rigorous trials, including 100,000km of testing across Malaysia’s diverse terrains and extreme weather conditions, solidifying its status as a groundbreaking vehicle.

The launch is aligned with the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), which aims to transform Malaysia into a net-zero emissions nation by 2050. The e.MAS 7 underscores Proton’s commitment to contributing to this vision while also strengthening its position as a leader in the EV segment.

A Technological Marvel with Advanced Features

The Proton e.MAS 7 is offered in two variants—Prime and Premium—and is available in five distinctive colours: Platinum Silver, Turquoise Green, Slate Grey, Quartz Rose, and Lithium White. The SUV is built on the Global Modular Architecture (GMA) platform and is powered by an innovative 12-in-1 intelligent electric propulsion system. It also incorporates Cell-to-Body (CTB) battery technology and features the cutting-edge Aegis Short-Blade Battery, a next-generation lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery designed for exceptional safety, efficiency, and performance.

The e.MAS 7’s electric drive unit delivers 214hp of power and 320Nm of torque, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 6.9 seconds. Its stopping power is equally impressive, with the vehicle able to brake from 100km/h to a complete stop within 35 meters. The Prime variant is equipped with a 49.52kWh battery offering a WLTP range of 345km, while the Premium variant boasts a 60.22kWh battery, extending the range to 410km. Both models support DC fast charging, allowing for a 30% to 80% charge in just 20 minutes.

Inside, the e.MAS 7 combines cutting-edge technology with comfort. Features include ventilated seats, a 15.4-inch 2.5K resolution touchscreen, 16-speaker Flyme Sound with WANOS System, and best-in-class 256-color ambient lighting. The SUV also offers practical storage solutions with 33 compartments and provides access to an integrated charging map, which covers over 1,700 charging points nationwide through partnerships with leading charge point operators.

Competitive Pricing and Special Launch Benefits

Proton has priced the e.MAS 7 competitively to ensure its accessibility. The Prime variant is priced at RM109,800, while the Premium variant is priced at RM123,800.

To celebrate the launch, Proton is offering special rebates of RM4,000 for the first 3,000 customers, bringing the prices down to RM105,800 (Prime) and RM119,800 (Premium). Additional benefits worth up to RM8,000 include a complimentary 7kW home charger, a V2L adapter, unlimited internet data for five years, and extended warranties for the vehicle and its high-voltage battery.

Future Plans and International Ambitions

Proton has ambitious plans to expand its footprint in the EV market, both locally and internationally. PRO-NET CEO Zhang Qiang shared that the company plans to export the e.MAS 7 to markets such as Singapore, Trinidad & Tobago, Mauritius, and Nepal starting next year. The company has also appointed 37 dealers nationwide, with 30 of them expected to be fully operational by the end of 2024.

Proton telah melancarkan pakej perkhidmatan prabayar baru yang boleh dibeli oleh pelanggan bagi kereta Proton baru dan sedia ada mereka. Pelan ProCare Smart (PSP) telah dilancarkan untuk Proton Saga, Proton X90, dan Proton X70 2025, memberikan penjimatan  sehingga RM670 (tertakluk pada model).  

Pembeli kereta baru boleh memilih pakej tiga atau lima tahun untuk membantu mengehadkan kos  penyelenggaraan pemilikan kenderaan. Mereka juga diberi jaminan tambahan bahawa kenderaan mereka akan  diselenggara di rangkaian pengedar 3S/4S Proton yang terkemuka dalam industri oleh juruteknik terlatih menggunakan hanya alat ganti Proton yang tulen.

Sebagai manfaat tambahan, para pembeli boleh mengurangkan kos penyelenggaraan kerana mereka akan menikmati penjimatan sehingga 15% berbanding pakej  perkhidmatan biasa. Sekiranya kenderaan dijual dengan baki PSP yang masih belum tamat, pemilik baru akan  menikmati manfaat tersebut selagi ia masih dalam tempoh sah.

Proton has unveiled the ProCare Smart Plan (PSP), a prepaid service package designed to offer significant savings and unparalleled convenience for both new and existing Proton car owners. Currently available for the Proton Saga, Proton X90, and the upcoming 2025 Proton X70, the PSP provides customers with savings of up to RM670, depending on the model, making vehicle maintenance more affordable and hassle-free.

The PSP is particularly advantageous for new car buyers, offering flexible three- or five-year service packages. This initiative ensures up to 15% savings on maintenance costs compared to conventional service plans. All services are performed at Proton’s authorized 3S/4S dealerships, guaranteeing the use of genuine Proton parts and expert care from skilled technicians. Additionally, the PSP benefits are transferable to new owners if the car is sold, provided the package remains valid. This feature not only helps manage ownership costs but also enhances the resale value of Proton vehicles, offering long-term financial benefits.

Proton mencatatkan jualan sebanyak 12,194  unit (domestik dan eksport) pada bulan November, terdapat penurunan sebanyak 4.7% berbanding bulan Oktober selaras dengan pengurangan dalam jumlah keseluruhan industri (TIV) sebanyak 4.1% untuk jualan automotif  Malaysia. Ini membawa jumlah jualan tahun sehingga kini (YTD) kepada 137,751 unit dengan Proton kekal di  tempat kedudukan kedua paling popular dalam kedudukan jualan nasional. Bahagian pasaran untuk bulan ini  adalah 18.2% yang membawa kepada angka YTD sebanyak 18.8% untuk keseluruhan tahun 2024.  

Walaupun volum jualan sektor automotif Malaysia mengalami pengurangan pada November, TIV YTD masih  hampir 10,000 unit lebih berbanding dengan masa yang sama pada 2023. Dengan anggaran 731,026 unit terjual  setakat ini, pasaran dijangka mencatatkan tahap rekod baharu untuk tahun kedua berturut-turut apabila  melangkaui paras 800,000 unit. Ini menjadikan Malaysia sebagai pasaran kenderaan penumpang dengan volum  kedua tertinggi di ASEAN tahun ini.  

Jualan model terbaru Proton, 2025 Proton X70, meningkat sebanyak 7.7% bulan ke bulan pada November kepada  1,065 unit, menjadikan jumlah jualan YTD sebanyak 7,536 unit. Oleh itu, model ini telah kembali meraih  kedudukan teratas dalam jualan SUV segmen C yang berharga di bawah RM130,000. Dilancarkan pada 15 Ogos  tahun ini, ia menampilkan gaya luaran yang dipertingkatkan, kelengkapan dalaman baharu, teknologi keselamatan  ADAS tahap 2 yang dipertingkatkan. Yang paling penting sekali, model itu dijual pada harga yang sama seperti  model sebelumnya.

Proton recorded 12,194 units in total sales (domestic and export) for November 2024, marking a 4.7% decrease compared to October. This aligns with the 4.1% contraction in Malaysia’s total industry volume (TIV) for the month. However, Proton’s year-to-date (YTD) sales reached 137,751 units, securing its position as the second most popular automotive brand in the country with an estimated 18.2% market share for November and 18.8% YTD.

Despite the monthly dip, Malaysia’s automotive sector remains robust, with an estimated 731,026 units sold YTD, about 10,000 more than the same period in 2023. The market is on course to surpass 800,000 units, setting a new annual record and establishing Malaysia as the second-largest passenger vehicle market in ASEAN for 2024.

Proton X70: Back on Top in the C-Segment SUV Category

  • November Sales: 1,065 units (+7.7% MoM)
  • YTD Sales: 7,536 units
  • The 2025 Proton X70, launched in August, features updated styling, upgraded ADAS Level 2 safety, and competitive pricing. It reclaimed the top spot among C-segment SUVs priced below RM130,000.

Proton telah memperkenalkan X50 Sport Edition di Pameran Mobiliti Antarabangsa Kuala Lumpur (KLIMS) 2024, menambah variasi istimewa pada SUV kompak popularnya. Berdasarkan varian X50 Premium, model ini menggabungkan reka bentuk sporty dengan peningkatan eksklusif, menjadikannya pilihan ideal untuk pembeli yang mementingkan gaya dan prestasi.

Sebagai sebahagian daripada usaha tanggungjawab sosial korporat (CSR)  yang berterusan, pengeluar kereta nasional Proton baru-baru ini bekerjasama dengan pertubuhan bukan  kerajaan (NGO) alam sekitar tempatan, MY Clean Beach, untuk menangani isu-isu alam sekitar yang mendesak di Pantai Batu Laut. Ia adalah sebuah pantai terletak kurang dari dua jam pemanduan dari Kuala Lumpur, di antara  Pantai Morib dan Tanjung Sepat di sepanjang pesisir Selat Melaka. 

Aktiviti pembersihan pantai selama dua jam yang melibatkan 42 sukarelawan dari pengurusan Proton, ahli  Kelab Proton Edar, dan NGO memberi tumpuan kepada dua kawasan utama di pantai: kawasan bakau dan  kawasan pelawat tempatan. Pasukan itu berjaya membersihkan 338.5 kilogram sampah, termasuk 263.95  kilogram sampah biasa, 38 kilogram barang besar, 3.5 kilogram tin/logam, 19.5 kilogram plastik, 14 kilogram kaca,  dan 148 puntung rokok. Selain itu, 46 penyedut plastik telah dikutip, yang turut menyumbang kepada pemulihan  keindahan semula jadi pantai tersebut.
