Located at the Audi Kuala Lumpur Service Centre, the Running Gear Competence Centre is a dedicated facility equipped with the latest technology used by Audi to ensure that the vehicle continues to deliver the best ride possible. Illustrating the brand’s commitment towards providing top notch service and access to latest technology, additions to the existing line-up of wheel alignment and brake line tester machines have been made. The Tech Talk agenda covered some of the brand new equipment within the Running Gear Competence Centre including the  tyre warmers, tyre changers and wheel balancer.

Complementing the new hardware, the technicians at the service centre have been extensively trained by trainers from Audi Regional Technical Service Centre to ensure that they have the latest skills to deliver the top service level expected.

“This is the first-ever Tech Talk for customers conducted by specialists in technical training and product support for the South-East Asian region for Audi fans to get a ‘behind the scenes’ look at what Audi Top Service is really about. A sizeable investment by our partner, Euromobil, on the Running Gear Compet, prolonging wear, and maximizing fuel efficiency.” Daniel Watts, General Manager of Aftersales, Dealer Development & Training.

Participants at the Tech Talk were put through a series of interactive, hands-on stations involving the specialised equipment, under the helpful guidance of Audi experts. These included the Noise Analysis, Wheel Balancing and the Run-Out Assessment, which measures the hubs and brake rotors.

The Tech Talk and inauguration of the Running Gear Competence Centre reflect the commitment that the brand has towards delivering “Audi Top Service”. In addition, Audi continues to expand its offerings and solutions to customers through:

  • Training the team: Together with the investments in state-of-the-art equipment, Audi also invests in more than 4,500 training hours a year to equip the service team.
  • Audi Top Service Shuttles: Since 2017, Audi Top Service Shuttles have been deployed to chauffeur customers from the Service Centre to their desired locations after dropping off their vehicles. Vehicles used include the current duo of Audi A8 L and an Audi R8. This initiative is part of the premium customer experience that Audi Service insists on.
  • Service Clinics: Nationwide Service Clinics are conducted to offer complimentary vehicle inspection, consultation and promotions on service packages, among others.

In 1968, almost a half-century ago, the first Audi 100 was unveiled in Ingolstadt, Germany. As Audi’s first entry into the line of full-size business sedans, the Audi 100 was a successful model and the flagship of the brand at that time, providing a solid foundation for Audi’s premium positioning. Over the years, the Audi 100 would evolve into the Audi A6 (since midway through the fourth-generation), becoming one of the most successful Audi vehicle models and the leading character of the business class. Here’s a look at the new car, while paying homage to the original!

Now in its eighth-generation, the all-new Audi A6 continues to push and redefine the limits of what is possibly the most competitive segment; the Business Class.

With a stunning arsenal of modern technology set to revolutionise every aspect of the vehicle, whether it’s the dynamic all-wheel steering with mild-hybrid engine, all-digital MMI touch response system with Audi connect and a wider array of driver assistance systems, this is the future of business mobility.

Audi’s new A8 has been revealed and though it retains the signature design elements of its predessor, with every incremental upgrade, the German automaker makes certain adjustments to rejuvenate the design to a certain degree. And this time, the front end features a wide, upright single-frame grille that is complemented by fludic and muscular bodywork giving the car a sporty yet elegant look.

From the side, the steep curvature of the front end blends well with the gently inclined rear quarter for a sleek silhouette. The sophisticated HD LED headlights with Audi laser lighting are impressive additions that are complemented by the DRL LED light-strips and OLED lighting tech for the rear.

Available as either the A8 or A8L, with the later being the long wheelbase version and 13 centimeters longer than the former. Overall, both feature lightweight construction and quattro permanent all-wheel-drive system. That is complemented by the all-wheel-drive steering system that allow for better control and turning radius.

Inside, the vehicle features the usual luxurious upholstery as well as electric seats that warm the soles of your feet (A8L). The extensive use of high quality materials is evident throughout the cabin, including the centre stack where the 10.1-inch touchscreen (MMI) infotainment system resides. Auxiliary functions can be controlled through another touch interface located on the centre tunnel console, including accessing air-conditioning and other comfort related options.

Audi touts that the glass display system, is very responsive and behaves in a very elegant manor. The combination of acoustic and tactile feedback that it offers as well as common touch gestures makes for a pleasant and user-friendly experience.

As advanced as these systems are, the new A8’s crowing achievement is its reliance on artifical intelligence both for autonomous driving and the manipulation of its active suspension setup. Thanks to a slew of radar sensors, image cameras as well as other sensors that include the ultrasound ones, the A8 is able to drive and navigate through traffic jams and slow moving traffic of up 60km/h.

It’s able to do so on roads and highways where a physical barrier separates the carriageways. The system can be activated by pressing the AI button on the centre console. When activated, the driver can take his/her hands off the steering wheel and relax while watching content on the TV.

Audi’s AI remote parking and remote garage pilot systems give the car the ability to steer in and out of parking spaces or a garage. The best part of this, the driver doesn’t have to be in the car while this is being done. He/she only needs to tell the car to do so by using he myAudi app on their smartphone.

Then there’s the active suspension, that depending on driving conditions, is able to raise ad lower each individual wheel via electric actuators. by doing so, it will be able to alter the suspension setup from a firmer sporty one, all the way to a soft and supple configuration. The reaction time of this particular AI system is said to be lightning quick should it sense an impending lateral collision, which will help reduce the severity of the accident and injuries to the occupants.

The system requires a great deal of energy to function, which is why the A8 uses a 48-Volt electrical system. Depending on region, there will be a number of engines on offer, which include 3.0 TDI, 3.0 TFSI, 4.0 TDI and 4.0 TFSI as well as the top of the line 6.0-litre W12 powerplant. When equipped with a mild-hybrid platform the A8 is able to switch off its engine at certain times to save fuel as well as recover energy of up to 12kW when the conditions suit it.

The new Audi A8 and A8L are being built at Audi’s Neckarsulm site and will appear in the German market in late 2017. We will let you know when it eventually reaches our shores in the not so distant future.

Audi has added three new variants to its A4 line-up which are the 1.4 TFSI, A4 2.0 TFSI Tech pack and the range topping 2.0 TFSI quattro. Launched last September, the A4 portfolio initially comprised of the A4 2.0 TFSI and A4 2.0 S Line. The added contenders will provide buyers with more options to choose from and allow the brand to meet the needs of many more buyers.

Considered the entry level variant of the lot, the A4 1.4 TFSI differs a little in terms of styling compared with the standard 2.0 TFSI. It has a different wheel design and comes with xenon plus headlights with DRLs but halogen taillights. Inside, the car is identical to its larger engine sibling with the exception of the steering wheel, which is of a different design.

Under the bonnet is a 1.4-litre engine that produces 150bhp and 250Nm of torque and is mated to a 7-speed S tronic transmission. Fuel consumption is pretty good too, Audi claims that the car should provide a fuel consumption figure of 5.2 l/ 100km on a combined cycle.

Moving up the range is the 2.0 TFSI Tech pack which features the Audi virtual cockpit and Matrix LED headlights with dynamic indicators in the front. Inside, the infotainment system has the Audi smartphone interface for Apple Carplay and Android Auto as well as a number of others. It’s powered by the same engine as the rest of the 2.0-litre A4 variants but it produces 190bhp and 320Nm of torque.

The third variant, called the 2.0 TFSI quatrro, features the same 2.0-litre engine but is tuned to produce 252bhp and 370Nm of torque. Due to the power, the 0-100km/h time for this variant drops to a mere 5.8 seconds which is close to the sports car territory. Also, its fitted with Audi’s clever all-wheel-drive system (quattro) enabling the car to have better grip especially on roads even in poor weather conditions.

There some subtle cues that enable the car to stand out from the rest of the line-up which include sportier front and rear bumpers, 18-inch 5-spoke cast aluminium wheels, MMI navigation plus with MMI touch, sports front seats, Alcantara upholstery, matte brushed aluminium inlays, Audi smartphone interface for apple Carplay and Android Auto, Audi connect as well as other features.

The 1.4 TFSI and 2.0 TFSI Tech pack variants can be ordered in seven different body colours which are Glacier White, Floret Silver, Scuba Blue, Tango Red, Monsoon Grey, Argus Brown, as well as Mythos Black. The 2.0 TFSI quattro can be had in the same range of colours except for Argus Brown, which has been replaced with Daytona Grey. Pricing starts at RM218,900 for the 1.4 TFSI, RM273,900 for the 2.0 TFSI Tech pack and RM314,900 for the 2.0 TFSI quattro.

However, since the cars have just been launched, Audi are offering them at a lowered price to entice buyers meaning, for a limited time only and starting from April 14, the 1.4 TFSI costs just RM199,900, the 2.0 TFSI Tech pack is offered at RM 249,900 and the 2.0 TFSI quattro is priced at RM294,900.

All variants of the A4 line-up come with a 5 year and unlimited mileage warranty. If you are interested, visit your nearest dealership or visit the automaker’s local website to learn more.
