Audi sedang menilai kemungkinan untuk kembali ke segmen kereta sport selepas pemberhentian model TT pada 2023 dan R8 pada 2024. Keputusan ini menandakan kali pertama dalam beberapa dekad jenama automotif dari Jerman itu tidak mempunyai model dua pintu dalam rangkaian kenderaannya. Kini, Audi sedang meneroka potensi pengenalan model baharu yang diilhamkan oleh TT asal, sekali gus membuka peluang kepada kebangkitan semula segmen ini dalam barisan produknya.

Dalam satu pembentangan kewangan baru-baru ini oleh Kumpulan Volkswagen, Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Audi, Gernot Döllner, menegaskan bahawa model kereta sport kekal sebagai elemen penting dalam identiti jenama tersebut. Menurut beliau, penyepaduan sebuah model baharu dalam segmen ini menjadi keutamaan, namun masa yang sesuai amat penting dalam menentukan hala tuju syarikat.

Audi is considering a return to the sports car segment following the discontinuation of the TT in 2023 and the R8 in 2024, marking the first time in decades that the German automaker has been without a two-door model in its lineup. The company is now exploring the possibility of a new sports car inspired by the original TT, signalling a potential resurgence in the category.

During a recent Volkswagen Group financial presentation, Audi CEO Gernot Döllner confirmed that sports cars remain an essential part of the brand’s identity. He emphasised that integrating a new sports car into the portfolio was a priority, but timing would be crucial. While acknowledging the challenges posed by Audi’s restructuring efforts, including the planned reduction of 7,500 jobs by the end of the decade, Döllner maintained that sports cars were part of his broader vision for the company’s future.

Audi’s new design chief, Massimo Frascella, is expected to play a key role in shaping the revival. A long-time admirer of the original TT, Frascella was so captivated by its design that he once took a day off work to admire the car at a dealership. Döllner noted that Frascella had carried a deep appreciation for Audi throughout his career, and now was the time to channel that passion into the brand’s next evolution.

Audi kini dalam perancangan untuk menghidupkan semula supercar ikoniknya, R8, dengan generasi baharu dijangka diperkenalkan pada tahun 2027. Model ini bakal menjadi Audi paling berkuasa yang pernah dihasilkan untuk jalan raya, menggabungkan teknologi elektrifikasi bagi meningkatkan prestasi.

Menurut laporan Autocar, pembangunan model baharu ini sedang giat dijalankan dengan sokongan pengerusi Audi, Gernot Döllner. Langkah ini menandakan anjakan besar dalam strategi supercar Audi, sekali gus mengekalkan warisan R8 sebagai jentera berprestasi tinggi. Model baharu ini akan berkongsi asas dengan Lamborghini Temerario, pengganti kepada Huracán, meneruskan kerjasama erat antara kedua-dua jenama yang bermula sejak R8 pertama dilancarkan pada 2006 bersama kembar mekanikalnya, Gallardo.

Meskipun berkongsi elemen utama dengan Temerario, termasuk pemanduan, elektronik dan casis, Audi akan memastikan R8 tetap menonjol dengan gabungan prestasi tinggi dan kebolehgunaan harian. Model ini dijangka hadir dalam varian coupé dan cabriolet.

Jantung kepada R8 baharu ialah enjin 4.0 liter V8 pengecas turbo berkembar yang dibangunkan oleh Lamborghini, menghasilkan 789hp dan 730Nm tork. Audi is preparing to revive its iconic R8 supercar, with the next-generation model set to arrive in 2027 as a high-performance plug-in hybrid. The new R8 is expected to be the most powerful road-going Audi ever, bringing an electrified twist to the brand’s legendary supercar.

According to Autocar, development of the new model is already underway, backed by Audi chairman Gernot Döllner, marking a major step forward in the brand’s supercar strategy. The upcoming R8 will share its underpinnings with the Lamborghini Temerario, the successor to the Huracán, continuing a partnership that dates back to 2006 when Audi first entered the supercar segment with the original R8 and its mechanical twin, the Gallardo.

While the R8 will share key elements with the Temerario, including its drivetrain, electronics, and chassis, Audi will once again set its model apart by prioritising everyday usability alongside extreme performance. Both coupé and cabriolet versions are expected.

At the heart of the new R8 is a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine, sourced from Lamborghini, delivering 789hp and 730Nm of torque. This already impressive output is further enhanced by a trio of axial-flux electric motors, bringing the total system power to 907hp. A small 3.8kWh lithium-ion battery provides limited all-electric driving capabilities, though its primary function is to support performance. The plug-in hybrid system enables an advanced four-wheel-drive setup, with two electric motors mounted on the front axle and a third positioned between the engine and an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, optimising energy recovery and acceleration.

Audi has officially introduced the latest generation of the A6 Avant, marking a new era of sophistication, innovation, and performance for the iconic estate. With a renewed focus on sleek aesthetics, advanced technology, and improved efficiency, the new A6 Avant combines timeless styling with exceptional aerodynamic performance, achieving a drag coefficient of just 0.25—the most efficient ever recorded for a combustion-engine Avant in Audi’s history.

The design of the new A6 Avant has been carefully refined to balance elegance with athleticism. The exterior features a clean, functional design language, complemented by extensive aerodynamic enhancements. At the front, large air curtains and controllable cool-air intakes optimise airflow, while a sporty roof spoiler and aerodynamic panels positioned alongside the rear window further reduce drag. The rear of the vehicle is dominated by a bold diffuser, flanked by distinctive quattro blisters that emphasise the Avant’s muscular stance. Together with an elongated hood and long wheelbase, these design elements create a harmonious blend of dynamic proportions and refined styling.

Powering the new A6 Avant is Audi’s advanced MHEV Plus mild hybrid technology, which improves both performance and efficiency. Customers can choose between a 2.0-litre TDI four-cylinder engine producing 204PS and a 3.0-litre TFSI six-cylinder engine delivering 367PS. Central to the MHEV Plus system is a 48-volt battery, a belt alternator starter (BAS), and a powertrain generator (PTG) equipped with integrated power electronics. This system allows the A6 Avant to operate in fully electric mode during low-speed city driving and parking situations, while also providing up to 230Nm of additional torque and recovering energy during deceleration. These features contribute to a smoother driving experience and reduced carbon emissions.

Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ) telah mengumumkan panggil semula lebih 41,000 kenderaan daripada pelbagai jenama utama, termasuk Honda, Audi, dan Mercedes-Benz, berikutan kebimbangan keselamatan. Langkah ini diambil bagi menangani kemungkinan kecacatan struktur, peralatan, atau sistem yang boleh meningkatkan risiko kemalangan.

Menurut laporan FMT, Ketua Pengarah JPJ, Aedy Fadly Ramli, menegaskan bahawa penarikan balik ini adalah langkah pencegahan penting untuk mengurangkan potensi bahaya akibat kecacatan yang dikenal pasti.

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has announced a recall affecting more than 41,000 vehicles, including models from Honda, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz, due to safety concerns. The move aims to address potential structural, equipment, or system defects that could lead to accidents.

As reported by FMT, JPJ director-general Aedy Fadly Ramli emphasised the importance of the recall, stating that it was a necessary step to prevent potential risks posed by the identified defects.

The recall covers 36,678 units of Honda Civic and CR-V models, 4,245 units of the Kia Sorento XM, 288 units of the Ford Everest, 168 units of the Audi e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT, 18 units of the Mercedes-Benz AMG and S 580 e, as well as 291 MAN TGS trucks of various models. Audi is charting a course further upmarket, positioning itself as an even more prestigious brand with upscale replacements for its flagship models, including the A8 limousine and the Q7 and Q8 SUVs. The German automaker is laying the groundwork for a more luxurious and exclusive brand perception, pushing into higher price segments while maintaining its premium identity.

The Grandsphere concept, unveiled in 2021, hinted at a potential future iteration of the A8 that would elevate it into true luxury territory. Similarly, the 2022 Urbansphere concept suggested that Audi may introduce an even larger, more opulent SUV. Now, the Volkswagen-owned brand is refining its strategy to further enhance its desirability and status.

Audi UK’s new managing director, Jose Miguel Aparicio, emphasised this shift in an interview with Auto Express, stating that the company prioritises prestige and exclusivity over sheer volume. “We are making a step upwards in terms of premiums, increasing the prestige, desirability, and perception of the brand, and more interested in the quality of business than the quantity,” he said.
