Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has launched its Hyundai Grand Starex Smart Lease Programme to offer corporations and businesses an attractive leasing programme with significant savings. The programme, which is in partnership with Sime Darby Rent A Car, is also available for individuals.

Customers who sign up for the Hyundai Grand Starex Smart Lease programme – which can be from 3 to 5 years – will enjoy the ownership experience of a new vehicle without having to worry about a loan application, and costs related to long-term maintenance, roadtax and insurance. There is also no need to consider the resale value or have the headache of disposing a vehicle.

Less outlay than a downpayment
Customers will only need to pay the agreed fixed monthly payment, a 2-month deposit and a booking fee of RM500 upon signing of the Hyundai Smart Lease Agreement. The deposit fee is lower compared to a downpayment and there is flexibility at the end of term. When the lease agreement expires, customers can opt to renew the lease programme with a new unit.

“We have tailored the programme to fit the business vehicle needs of companies. The Smart Lease programme will provide greater flexibility without the hassle and burden of hefty up-front payments and other costs,” said Low Yuan Lung, Managing Director of HSDM. He added that the cost-savings are approximately RM17,000 for a 5-year ownership term.

Customers who use the programme can choose from all four variants of the MPV – Standard Corporate, Executive Plus without bodykit, Executive Plus with bodykit, and Executive Prime. The Grand Starex can accommodate up to 11 persons and is powered by a 2.5-litre turbodiesel engine with a 5-speed automatic transmission.

The monthly payment for the Standard Corporate variant is RM2,800 for a 5-year leasing programme with mileage capped at 15,000 kms per annum. This includes a car replacement benefit of 3 days. Customers can choose to extend the mileage cap up to 30,000 kms per annum or 40,000 kms per annum with a monthly repayment of RM3,250 and RM3,550, respectively.

Showing gratitude to frontliners
Meanwhile, HSDM has a special programme to express gratitude to the healthcare workers and frontliners dealing with public health emergencies – such as fire fighters and uniformed law enforcement officers – as well as public school teachers.

Known as the Hyundai Frontliners Appreciation Programme, it is an initiative by HSDM to show its appreciation and support to frontliners who have worked tirelessly to serve the people. The programme comes with grocery vouchers, and other goodies worth RM7,900 in total. Additionally, a special rebate will make owning a new Hyundai model more affordable.

The private sector, which has many different resources available, can provide much-needed support in various ways and Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has provided essential items needed by our hardworking frontliners.

Financial contributions
The company has donated RM20,000 to Mercy Malaysia to purchase 400 units of Tyvek Protective Personal Equipment for frontliners. Additionally, it purchased RM43,000 worth of items needed for a COVID-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) in Hulu Langat. Financial contributions will assist the health workers further in conducting extensive screening on possible virus carriers, contract tracing, isolating the infected, and dispensing care to those who need it.

Other initiatives include contributing essential items such as tents, tables, and chairs, portable air-conditioning units, queue barriers, and heavy-duty wires. At the CAC, COVID-19 patients are assessed before they are sent to hospitals, quarantine at treatment centres, or ordered to undergo quarantine at home. The CAC which MMM is assisting can accommodate up to 400 patients a day.

MMM has also loaned 3 Mitsubishi vehicles which were distributed to CACs in Stadium Melawati, Stadium Jugra, and Klinik Kesihatan Gombak Setia in the Klang Valley. The vehicles – one  Triton pick-up truck and two Outlander 7-seater SUVs – be used by frontliners to commute to vaccination centres for the public outreach vaccination program.

Collaborating with SOCAR Mobility Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., Honda Malaysia is providing 50 units of its City model to frontliners in the War on COVID-19 who are also Honda customers. This programme, on a first come, first served basis, is initiated for frontliners who are unable to use their vehicles during this difficult time, in order to help ease their travel challenges.

Available for one-month duration of usage (Honda Malaysia will bear all rental charges), this collaboration with the car-sharing platform provides mobility aid for the frontliners. The move is Honda Malaysia’s way of showing appreciation to the frontliners who have a brave spirit as well as making self-sacrifices.

The frontliners refer to the government hospitals doctors, nurses and administrators, personnel of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and Malaysian Armed Forces as well as RELA and Malaysia Civil Defense (Angkatan Pertahanan Awam).

While most Malaysians are remaining at home under the conditions of the Movement Control Order (MCO) which will run till April 28, 2020, there are many who are out carrying out duties that are vital to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus. These are the frontliners who are also placing themselves at risk of getting infected.

The corporate sector has been providing support in various ways as this War Against COVID-19 is one which everyone has to play a part in. Where UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) is concerned, providing protective gear is one of the ways that can help the frontliners who travel in vehicles.

This morning, representatives from UMWT handed over 10,000 seat covers, gear knob covers and steering covers which can provide protection over surfaces in the vehicle. The recipients were the PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) and the Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA). The handover took place at the MRA Warehouse in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

Additionally, at UMWT’s various outlets, assistance in the form of food, facemasks and other essentials have been gathered and donated from their respective locations. For example, a dealership in Kuala Selangor has donated meals and water to police and armed forces personnel stationed in its vicinity.

The nurses, doctors and other healthcare personnel are the frontliners in the War Against COVID-19. They are working long hours and placing themselves at risk of being infected but they do so for the sake of the rest of us.

To help ease their daily challenges, GoCar Malaysia and Shell Malaysia are joining forces to make travel easier for healthcare frontliners. From now until April 14, 2020, GoCar is offering 200 Nissan Almera located at 127 Shell stations across Peninsular Malaysia for free to such personnel, with Shell providing RM30 vouchers to fuel their journeys.

This initiative aims to make their commute from their place of stay to hospitals and other facilities easier and safer. In the War Against COVID-19, the frontliners are those in the healthcare services, especially the ones who have been working day and night in challenging conditions to save lives. These are our Malaysian heroes whose sacrifices and dedication will always be remembered.

Shell Malaysia demonstrated their support and care for the nation’s frontliners during this fight against COVID-19 through a series of outreach initiatives aimed to lessen their worries and challenges. Besides the care packages, Shell and BonusLink have joined forces to launch an initiative to enable customers to contribute and show their gratitude to the nation’s frontliners. Over the past week,  BonusLink members have been invited to show their support to the frontliners by simply contributing a minimum of 100 points (equivalent to RM1) which will be channelled directly to the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) COVID-19 Fund.

Shell has pledged to match RM1 for every 100 points (RM1) donated during the period. All donations to Tabung COVID-19 will be used to assist MOH to purchase medical equipment, PPEs and other medical necessities.
