Malaysians residing far from the capital can look forward to enjoying summons discounts at police stations nationwide, as the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) plans to extend the program following its success in Kuala Lumpur, according to Sinar Harian. This initiative is part of the ongoing Two Years of Madani Government (2TM) Program.

Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) Director, Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, announced that discussions are underway to finalise the discount rates, expected to be implemented starting mid-December. He noted that the current 60 percent discount offered during the 2TM Program and the 2024 National Convention on Public Service Reform will serve as a benchmark for upcoming programs.

“We are focusing on completing the summons payment period for the 2TM Program, which runs from today until Sunday. After that, we aim to launch a nationwide summons discount program at police stations by mid-December, offering reductions of between 30 and 50 percent,” said Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri during a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is set to implement a substantial reduction of up to 50 per cent in traffic summonses as part of the MADANI One-Year Program. The program is scheduled to take place from December 8 to 10 at the National Stadium Bukit Jalil grounds.

According to Bernama, Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri, the Director of Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department Bukit Aman, clarified that the reduced summonses will not apply to certain traffic offences for the year 2023. These exceptions include accident summonses, court cases with arrest warrants or still in trial, and offences that cannot be compounded.

According to Sapri, individuals can make payments for summonses exclusively at the inspection and traffic summons payment counters at the National Stadium Bukit Jalil grounds.

The payment counters will be operational from 9 am to 4 pm on December 8 (Friday) and from 9 am to 6 pm on December 9 and 10 (Saturday and Sunday). He emphasised the importance of checking summonses early through the MyBayar PDRM portal and application to streamline the payment process and avoid congestion at the payment counters.

Besides the announcement of toll-free travel for Hari Raya, the Prime Minister has also announced that traffic summonses issued before 2023 can be settled for RM50. Presumably, this is part of the ‘good news’ that was promised to Malaysians but it was the toll rebate that got the bigger publicity.

The offer of RM50 would be greatly appreciated by those who have committed offences with a compoundable fine of up to RM300, as well as those who have a number of summonses. For each one, the fine will be fixed at RM50 from April 21 to May 21, 2023.

High-speed car chases with police chasing the bad guys are usually what you see in movies or, in more recent times, videos of the cops in America in real-life action. So it must have been quite amazing for motorists in the Klang area to see a real-life chase recently.

The chase was over a distance of 30 kms as police pursued a robbery suspect from Banting to Port Klang in Selangor. According to South Klang district police chief Cha Hoong Fong, the 31-year old suspect was driving a Proton Inspira recklessly along the road near the Kampung Pendamar Mosque. He was unable to avoid oncoming traffic as he tried to squeeze between two cars that slowed down to cross over a speed bump.

Bird dropping falling from the sky are not an unusual occurrence and while they will dirty your car, they don’t cause permanent damage (unless you don’t wash the deposits off). But hard objects will cause dents and could even injure somebody or cause an accident. Fortunately, such incidents don’t happen often but there was such a case recently and it was even recorded on video and began circulating on social media.

The video of 1 minute and 43 seconds uploaded by Tik Tok user, Syrupboy1, was taken in the Kampung Baru area of Kuala Lumpur. It showed a young person throwing a bottle from the balcony of what was believed to be a high-rise residential unit. It was clear that there was a busy highway with lots of cars.

Being deemed to be ‘improperly dressed’ resulted in a woman being prevented from entering the premises of a police station to make a report concerning a car accident she was involved in. While she was no wearing a bikini, the Bermuda shorts she had on were considered to be unacceptable under the dress code set by the police.

The woman related her experience to Free Malaysia Today and said that it happened at the Kajang police station. She had gone there after being involved in an accident in Batu Sembilan, Cheras, having been asked to go to the Kajang station by the Batu Sembilan station personnel.

At the Kajang station, the guard at the gate refused to allow her in and told her that her clothes were not acceptable. He then advised her to change to something acceptable, presumably something which covered her legs completely. He was insistent about her complying with the dress code, saying that even ministers would not be allowed in if dressed like she was.
