UPDATE: The offer has been extended to April 28, 2020 which is the extended expiry date of the MCO.

The nurses, doctors and other healthcare personnel are the frontliners in the War Against COVID-19. They are working long hours and placing themselves at risk of being infected but they do so for the sake of the rest of us.

To help ease their daily challenges, GoCar Malaysia and Shell Malaysia are joining forces to make travel easier for healthcare frontliners. From now until April 14, 2020, GoCar is offering 200 Nissan Almera located at 127 Shell stations across Peninsular Malaysia for free to such personnel, with Shell providing RM30 vouchers to fuel their journeys.

Safer journey for frontliners
This initiative aims to make their commute from their place of stay to hospitals and other facilities easier and safer. Registrations can be done via GoCar’s website upon verification of healthcare personnel status online. Once successful, registrants will receive a GoCar promo code worth RM483 that can be used to book a Nissan Almera followed by a Shell Fuel e- voucher worth RM30, delivered via email, on a first come-first served basis.

Commenting on this collaboration, Alan Cheah, CEO of GoCar Malaysia, said: “At GoCar, we strive to act fast to give back to the community in any way possible, now more than ever. We are excited to work on this with one of our biggest partners, Shell Malaysia who shares and supports the same value too. As our frontliners continue working tirelessly for us, we are doing our part to keep them safe by helping them travel in isolation in GoCars with Shell supporting the necessary petrol needed.”

Since the outbreak began, GoCar has seen the need to ramp up frequency for cars to be cleaned and disinfected. “It is our main priority to ensure our cars are continuously cleaned for all GoCar members to use, especially in a time like this. This also means we have to monitor our own frontliners’ well-being closely and make sure they are safe on the job,” Mr. Cheah said.

“Aside from taking body temperature and monitoring their health daily, all on-ground staff are given a comprehensive cleaning kit consisting of face masks, hand gloves, hand sanitisers, disinfectant sprays, and anti-bacterial fabric sprays to be used while on duty. They have also been placing and replenishing anti-bacterial wet tissues in each car for the convenience of all GoCar members to use whenever needed,” he added.

“Shell Malaysia is pleased to join forces with GoCar to offer a more convenient and safe way for our healthcare frontliners to travel. With our wide network of Shell stations across the country, we are able to make these GoCars easily available to our frontliners at 127 stations nationwide and, at the same time, fuel their journeys to where they must go. We are all striving to do what we can to heed the nation’s call to flatten the COVID-19 curve, and Shell is undertaking this initiative to ensure our nation’s health frontliners are able to  go well in their journeys to the battleground of this pandemic,” said Shairan Huzani Husain, MD of Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd and Shell Timur Sdn Bhd.

He added that while Shell continues to show support towards the healthcare frontliners, the well-being of its site staff and customers remain a priority. “Thanks to our own frontliners, Shell is able to give customers a peace of mind when they are at our stations,” he said, explaining that the company has been implementing several safety measures and prevention guidelines.

When Touch ‘n Go began providing alternative locations (besides the toll plazas) to top up the balance in the electronic toll payment card, there was a 50-sen charge for each transaction. Over time, the charge was waived by some outlets although there are still some that still do it.

Shell Malaysia believes every bit counts in the long run and to help Malaysians save some money on living expenses, the company has announced that effective today, 27 of its stations along the North-South Expressway (NSE) will waive the RM0.50 top-up fee.

“Shell understands the challenge Malaysians face against the rising cost of living. We know it can be difficult to save when there are inclining necessary expenditures like food, transportation, utilities and education, which form a huge part of one’s expenditure. This drives us to help Malaysians save more and ultimately, get more out of their journeys. Hopefully, forgoing the Touch ‘n Go top-up charges at all stations along NSE, as a start, will give our customers one less worry when travelling or fuelling up at Shell during long journeys,” said Shairan Huzani Husain, MD of Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd and Shell Timur Sdn Bhd.

He said that Shell Malaysia is always looking at ways and means to reward its customers. Throughout 2019, Shell launched several campaigns that gave away prizes from cars to loyalty points. Back in September, Shell gave away 3 BMW X3s through its WIN 3 BMW X3 campaign. This was followed up with the offer of 10x BonusLink points collection with every one litre of fuel purchased as well as a 50% rebate for BonusLink points redeemed.

The current campaign is Nak Ekstra RM20,000? which runs until February 9, 2020. Malaysians have a chance to win weekly grand prizes of RM20,000 and 20 consolsation prizes of RM1,000. These cash giveaways aim to enable Malaysians to be a step closer to fulfilling needs and dreams for themselves and their loved ones.

“These initiatives represent our commitment towards Malaysians and their journeys on and off the road. We at Shell are equally passionate for creating life-enriching opportunities for Malaysians, just as we are about providing high-quality fuels and products that help our customers get more out of their journeys,” Encik Shairan said.

‘Nak Ekstra RM20,000?’ You could get it by just spending RM40 at a Shell station

PISTON.MY

Nak Ekstra RM20,000?’ is the name of Shell Malaysia’s latest campaign to welcome 2020. Throughout December 2019 until February 9, 2020, Shell customers have the opportunity to cash in an extra RM20,000 each week! On top of the RM20,000 Grand Prize, Shell is also giving away RM1,000 to 20 consolation prize winners on a weekly basis.

Extra sum of money for a brighter 2020
Though a new year should bring hope for better things, we cannot deny some of the worrying thoughts running in the minds of most Malaysians. A study found that 86% of Malaysians are concerned about the cost of basic needs and high-priced homes, followed by 76% who are in debt to sustain their cost of living while the remaining 74% are uneasy about loss of source of income. This insight supports the ‘Nak Ekstra RM20,000’ campaign, which provides Malaysians with an opportunity to receive an extra sum of money for a brighter 2020.

“Just like Shell FuelSave 95, a fuel that is designed to go further, we hope the extra RM20,000 cash prize will help customers pursue the things that matter to them,” said Shairan Huzani Husain, MD of Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd and Shell Timur Sdn Bhd.

“Whether it is starting a college fund for your children, an Umrah trip, paying bills, or a downpayment for a new car, Shell wants to give customers a chance to go a little further and start the year on a high note,” he added.

Shell can be found in virtually every country around the globe and in Malaysia, the brand has had a presence of more than 127 years. It is a trusted brand and a household name for petroleum products, lubricants and other services serving Malaysian consumers and the auto industry. This trust has been gained through ensuring strong product quality and value chain integrity.

However, popular brands will tend to attract ‘copycats’ who try to exploit such success and trust by selling fake products to unsuspecting consumers. These are sold through the black market and for companies like Shell, there has been an impact on the brand.

In 2018, Shell conducted laboratory tests on a random sample of products sold online and in hypermarkets that claimed to be genuine Shell products. The lab test results showed that 4 out of 12 containers sold were counterfeit.

Helping enforcement agencies to identify fakes
As part of its continuous effort to protect Shell’s brand integrity and to ensure that customers receive only genuine Shell products, Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd is driven to strengthen its collaboration with enforcement agencies to combat the presence of lubricants that are being passed off as genuine Shell products to unsuspecting consumers and workshops.

The company recently conducted a special training workshop which was attended by nearly 100 enforcement officers from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNDHEP) and Royal Malaysian Customs. The aim was to provide the agencies with knowledge on how to differentiate genuine Shell lubricants from counterfeit and illegal products, when conducting raids.

Shell Lubricants Marketing General Manager, May Tan, thanked the enforcement agencies for giving serious attention to this issue that has created confusion in the marketplace, threatened Shell’s reputation, and affected the livelihood of honest workshop owners.

“We would like to commend the authorities for their efforts in combating counterfeit lubricant production and distribution activities that affect major brands including Shell. As the brand owner, we are deeply concerned with the number of consumers who might have inadvertently purchased fake lubricants through unauthorised channels. That is why we always advise consumers to only buy official genuine Shell lubricants with ‘Untuk Pasaran Malaysia’ labels complete with QR codes that can be authenticated via SHARE website (www.shell.com.my/share) and from authorised outlets to avoid potential irreversible damage to their vehicles,” she said.

Over a period of 10 days, Shell Malaysia raised a total of RM1.92 million in its recent ‘Anda Beli, Kami Derma’ Raya Charity Campaign. In its fifth year, the campaign is an effort to spread the spirit of caring and sharing during the ‘balik kampung’ season.

1 sen donation for every litre of fuel
During the campaign period (May 30 to June 8 2019), Shell donated 1 sen for every litre of Shell fuel pumped and 1 sen for every RM1.00 spent at Shell SELECT stores. The money raised will go to the National Cancer Society Malaysia, Food Aid Foundation, and Malaysian Nature Society. Mastercard joined the effort as a valued partner for the second consecutive year and contributed 1 sen to the Food Aid Foundation for every litre of Shell fuel pumped and every RM1 spent at Shell SELECT stores paid for with any Mastercard credit or debit cards.

This year, motorists were given the option to donate to the organisation of their choice. Additionally, Shell’s agencies and partners came together to support this initiative through contributions in the form of media advertising and resources.

Ongoing campaign
“We are once again humbled by the generosity and support of our Malaysian motorists, in helping us raise a total of RM1.92 million for the organisations in just 10 days. We wish to thank all our customers and partners for contributing to this cause. In line with our mission to make life’s journeys better for all Malaysians, we hope this initiative will continue to inspire others to extend a helping hand for those who are in need,” said Shairan Huzani Husain, MD of Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd and Shell Timur Sdn Bhd.

He added that the continuous support and generosity of Malaysian motorists has encouraged Shell to run this campaign annually to impact more lives.
