McLaren, jenama yang sinonim dengan supercar dua tempat duduk berprestasi tinggi, kini sedang memasuki fasa baharu dalam perjalanan korporatnya. Syarikat itu baru-baru ini diambil alih oleh CYVN Holdings, sebuah entiti yang mempunyai kaitan dengan dana kekayaan Arab Saudi, sebelum digabungkan dengan syarikat permulaan EV dari UK, Forseven.

Apa yang bakal terjadi pada masa depan McLaren masih belum jelas sepenuhnya, namun beberapa petunjuk sudah mula kelihatan. Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif baharu, Nick Collins, mendedahkan kepada Car Magazine bahawa McLaren kini mempertimbangkan jenis kenderaan baharu, bukan lagi sekadar kereta sport ringan seperti sebelumnya.

Collins tidak mengesahkan sama ada McLaren akan menghasilkan SUV, tetapi mengakui buat pertama kali jenama itu akan membina kereta dengan lebih daripada dua tempat duduk. Ini merupakan perubahan besar bagi sebuah syarikat yang sejak awal berpegang teguh pada formula supercar eksklusif.

Great Wall Motor (GWM) has officially revealed a glimpse of its first-ever supercar, marking a bold entry into the high-performance automotive segment. Unveiled by Chairman Wei Jianjun on the company’s 35th anniversary, the yet-to-be-named model is set to feature a self-developed 4.0-litre V8 engine paired with a plug-in hybrid system, positioning it as a formidable contender against BYD’s all-electric Yangwang U9.

The teaser image, shared on Wei Jianjun’s official Weibo account, showcases the prototype cloaked in a black film, with the GWM chairman and company executives gathered around it. Though heavily covered, the car’s long proportions, sloped bonnet, and muscular rear haunches suggest a mid- or rear-mounted engine layout. Prominent air intakes situated in front of the rear fenders reinforce expectations of a performance-focused design. The only difference between the U9 and this is that this does not feature the huge swan neck spoiler.

The supercar has been in development for several years, with reports tracing its origins back to 2021. GWM formally committed to the project in January 2025, during its general meeting, which also marked the initiation of a new luxury division internally codenamed “BG”. That same month, the company filed a new trademark, “自信汽车” (Zixin Qiche or “Confidence Auto”), with the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), signalling a new direction under a premium sub-brand.

Ferrari has officially revealed its latest high-performance berlinetta, the 296 Speciale, a focused evolution of its mid-rear-engined plug-in hybrid line-up. Designed to elevate the driving experience to new heights, the 296 Speciale is the spiritual successor to a storied lineage of hardcore V8 special series cars, including the Challenge Stradale, 430 Scuderia, 458 Speciale, and 488 Pista.

At the heart of this latest creation lies a significantly enhanced version of Ferrari’s hybrid powertrain. The familiar 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine now produces 690hp, identical to the output found in the track-only 296 Challenge. This is no coincidence—Ferrari has confirmed that the 296 Speciale inherits its engine mapping and boost calibration from the race car, along with several internal upgrades including titanium connecting rods, new pistons, and a lighter crankshaft. Borrowing from Formula 1 technology, the engine also employs a sophisticated knock control system, enhancing performance and reliability under high-stress conditions.

Augmenting the internal combustion engine is an upgraded electric motor contributing an additional 177hp, bringing total system output to 867hp—up from 818hp in the standard 296 GTB. Power is channelled exclusively to the rear wheels through Ferrari’s eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, which retains its original hardware but features recalibrated shift strategies to better exploit the added performance. Despite its race-ready credentials, the 296 Speciale remains a plug-in hybrid, capable of covering up to 24km on electric power alone.

Aston Martin has officially released on-road images of the Valhalla as it nears the final stages of validation ahead of its production launch in the second quarter of 2025. Currently undergoing rigorous testing both on-road in the UK and on-track near Barcelona, the mid-engined hybrid supercar is being fine-tuned to ensure exceptional performance in real-world conditions.

The Valhalla has been seen in two striking liveries—Podium Green with Lime Green accents and Verdant Jade with Valkyrie Gold—while being put through its paces at the IDIADA proving ground in Spain. Aston Martin engineers, alongside three-time Le Mans class winner Darren Turner, are conducting final calibrations on steering precision, active aerodynamics, and the thermal braking system’s performance. In addition to track testing, another Valhalla, finished in Satin Scintilla Silver with Lime Green highlights, is undergoing damper calibration on UK roads to refine its ride quality and handling characteristics.

Simon Newton, Aston Martin’s Director of Vehicle Performance and Attributes, emphasized the unprecedented dynamic capability of the Valhalla, made possible by its hybrid powertrain that produces an astonishing 1,079PS and 1,100Nm of torque. The car is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo flat-plane crank V8, the most powerful V8 ever fitted to an Aston Martin, and is paired with three electric motors, allowing for plug-in hybrid capability and a dedicated EV driving mode. BYD, sebuah syarikat terkenal dalam industri kenderaan elektrik dan bateri, telah mengumumkan pelancaran supercar elektrik pertama mereka, yang dikenali sebagai YANGWANG U9. Harga supercar yang mewah ini adalah sebanyak 1.68 juta RMB (setara dengan kira-kira RM1,114,756) dan penghantaran akan bermula pada Jun ini.

Supercar ini dikuasakan oleh platform e4 serta Intelligent Body Control System DiSus-X, yang memberikan kombinasi prestasi trek dan kebolehsuaian di jalan raya.

Ferrari has introduced a limited-run, track-only supercar, the 499P Modificata. This high-performance machine is based on the race-winning Ferrari 499 that claimed victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans four months ago, but it offers even more power and features for racers.

Powertrain

The 499P Modificata is powered by the same 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine as the Le Mans-winning race car. Additionally, it features an electric motor at the front axle, providing a combined output of 858hp. A unique feature is that the electric assistance is available from a standstill, unlike the Le Mans car, which activates its electric power beyond 190km/h.

‘Push to Pass’ System

Ferrari has equipped the 499P Modificata with a ‘Push to Pass’ system, which can deliver an extra 161hp at the push of a button, providing a burst of power for overtaking and acceleration.

High-Performance Rubber

The car comes standard with bespoke Pirelli tyres, measuring 310/70-18 at the front and 340/70-18 at the rear. These tyres feature a structure and tread compound derived from Formula 1 technology. Additionally, a custom rain tyre has been developed specifically for the 499P Modificata.

Lightweight Carbon Fibre Construction

The car’s body is crafted entirely from lightweight carbon fibre, helping to keep the overall weight down and enhance performance. Although Ferrari hasn’t disclosed the downforce figures, it’s expected to provide substantial aerodynamic grip.

Sporty Interior

The interior is virtually identical to the race car’s cabin, ensuring owners receive the same driving experience as Le Mans-winning crews. Ferrari has created the 499P Modificata to be a thrilling track experience for those who value performance and the thrill of racing.

Exclusivity and Track Access

This limited-run Ferrari is available for private purchase, starting at €5.1 million (approximately RM25 million) before taxes. Owners will also enjoy two years of running the car in Ferrari’s Sport Prototipi Clienti program, which provides access to numerous international tracks. Ferrari takes care of logistics, track-side assistance, and maintenance for the car, ensuring a hassle-free track experience.
