Mazda CX-9 To Cease Production After 2023

The destiny of the beloved CX-9 has been sealed since we first saw the 2024 Mazda CX-90. Mazda has already stated that the CX-9 and CX-90 would not be able to coexist like the CX-5 and CX-50. According to Mazda, the CX-9 will be phased out at the end of the 2023 model year.

This is due to a more significant transition occurring within Mazda’s lineup of crossover models. While the CX-90 is built on Mazda’s new longitudinal-engine platform and comes with either a turbocharged inline-six engine or a plug-in hybrid powertrain, the CX-9 is based on the company’s transverse-engine architecture and employs a turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

New Mercedes CLE Coupe Launched, Replaces C-Class And E-Class Coupe

Mercedes-Benz rarely introduces a brand-new model. However, they go all out when they do. The C-Class coupe and E-Class coupe are set to be replaced by the 2024 CLE-Class in the premium midsize segment, which is gradually shrinking.

The CLE Coupe is significantly larger than the C-Class coupe, at 191 inches long, 73.2 inches wide, and 56.2 inches tall. Although it is a spiritual successor to both models, Mercedes-Benz clearly wants to reduce the number of cars in its lineup.

Exterior

In addition to being in line with the usual Mercedes design language, it has typical coupe features which are the long bonnet embedded in the front end with two power domes, the steeply sloping windscreen and the long, sloping roof towards the rear.

Its front appearance, which has more angular headlamps and strong grille sections, is interestingly more similar to the less expensive CLA-Class than either the C- or E-Class sedans. The attached rear taillight bar reminds us of the company’s all-electric EQ products. Well, at least this design resembles an actual car rather than it looking like an egg with four wheels.

Ford Kills The Fiesta, Replaces It With Electric SUV

Ford will stop producing its best-selling Fiesta model as soon as next week as it transitions to an all-electric future. In order to create Ford’s new electric Explorer SUV at its Cologne, Germany, plant, the compact car will be decommissioned.

On July 7, 2023, the last Fiesta model will leave the factory for the European market. The Fiesta generation is coming to an end in favour of an electric future after 47 years and eight generations.

The step was taken after the American manufacturer declared it would transition to an entirely electric brand in Europe by 2030 and offer nine EV models by 2024. Ford and Volkswagen partnered together in 2020 to speed up electric vehicle (EV) production in the area with intentions to use VW’s MEB platform to introduce its own line of electric vehicles.

Several Roads To Close On July 7 In Penang

On July 7, several roads in Penang will be closed from 6am to 12am in order to accommodate the Meng Eng Soo Open House and the George Town Heritage Celebrations 2023.

For the George Town Heritage Celebrations, the roads to be closed are Lebuh Armenian, Lorong Soo Hong, Lebuh Cannon, Lebuh Aceh, and Lorong Lumut; and Jalan Pintal Tali for the Meng Eng Soo Open Day.

Visitors and attendees of cultural celebrations are urged to plan their routes in advance and walk to the event locations after parking their cars at neighbouring parking lots.

For the second time in five years, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars London, part of Vincent Tan’s H.R. Owen Group, has been voted Rolls-Royce Global Dealer of the Year.

H.R. Owen, which is owned by the Berjaya Group, is Britain’s leading luxury motor dealer group, representing some of the world’s most sought-after premium car brands – Bugatti, Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, BAC, Rimac, Czinger, Hennessey and Radford.

The London dealership also made history by becoming the first to win three accolades in a single year, taking Regional Sales Dealer of the Year and Regional Whispers Dealer of the Year. The annual awards, announced in a series of in-person and virtual events, recognise the achievements of the global network of Rolls-Royce showrooms in providing great service and experiences to their customers.

All-New Toyota Alphard And Vellfire Launched In Japan

After months of teasing and speculating, Toyota has officially unveiled the all-new Alphard and Vellfire.

Sales have begun in Japan with the fourth-generation model available in two variations: an HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) and an ICE (internal combustion engine). In the future, a PHEV version will also be released as a part of the business’s strategy to become carbon neutral.

Exterior

Both MPVs have the same width (1,850 mm) and wheelbase (3,000 mm) but are longer than before (4,995 mm). Depending on the model and version, the height of the MPVs barely changes, ranging between 1,935 mm and 1,945 mm.

According to Toyota, these measurements are required to ensure that the MPVs adhere to the 5,000 mm length and 1,850 mm width limits of Japan’s standard automatic parking systems. Nevertheless, the development team was able to add 5 mm and 10 mm, respectively, to the distance between the front and second rows of seats and the second and third rows.

Perodua Axia E Debuts at RM22,000!

We all know that most Perodua models are usually starter cars due to their affordability. The Myvi starts from RM46,500 and the latest Axia at RM38,600. Affordable right? But what of those who have lower incomes but still fancy a new car instead of a second hand?

Perodua made the move of introducing the Axia E which primarily targets the lower-income group. This Axia E is a variant based on the 2017 model, yes, not the latest one. It is certified with a 4-star Asean NCAP rating by the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS).

Toyota Introduces Hydrogen-Powered Le Mans Challenger

Toyota has dominated the Le Mans competition, winning 5 straight races between 2018 and 2022. And for 2023 the manufacturer has unveiled a brand-new hydrogen-powered concept before the start of this year’s 24-hour race that was created “with future competition in its sights.”

The prototype was introduced at a press conference held by Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO), the organisation behind the Le Mans 24 Hours. It was motivated by the ACO’s recent declaration that it will permit hydrogen-engine vehicles to participate in a category separate from fuel-cell electric vehicles.

DBKL: Chairs And Rubbish Bins Used To ‘Chup’ Public Parking Lot Can Be Removed

We all know how irritating it can be to see a chair or rubbish bin used to reserve a public parking lot when parking these days are hard to come by. Yes, it is illegal and yes you can do something about it. Just make sure you don’t go viral on social media the next day as these things can lead to arguments and sometimes fights.

Enforcement personnel from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) advise citizens to deal with those who illegitimately reserve parking spaces. It may seem simple, but most people wouldn’t want to risk getting into a fight with the person who placed the object there, therefore the issue persists.

New Joint Venture Between Honda and GS Yuasa To Build Battery Factory in Japan

Being able to develop electric vehicles (EVs) is a vital expertise for carmakers as the industry speeds towards electrification of its products. However, just as vehicles with internal combustion engines are useless without liquid fuel, EVs will not run without electricity. The electricity can come from various sources – even the sun – but what’s more important is being able to store the energy.

That’s where batteries come in and currently, there is much focus on the development of batteries for EVs, with the technology advancing very quickly. As we have seen with the shortage of microprocessors disrupting vehicle production globally, a shortage of batteries would also mean EVs cannot leave the factory, even if the vehicle is completed.

For this reason, the major carmakers have looked for ways to secure supply of batteries for coming years as demand for EVs increases rapidly. The biggest companies have established their own subsidiaries to develop and manufacture batteries, setting up factories around the world to ensure that different regions are covered.
