Ford Mustang

Ford has officially revealed the highly anticipated 2025 Mustang GTD, marking the most advanced and powerful Mustang ever engineered. With a jaw-dropping 815hp and 900Nm of torque, the Mustang GTD is set to redefine performance in the world of street-legal sports cars. Its top speed of 325km/h makes it the fastest Mustang ever to hit the road, pushing the boundaries of what the iconic brand can achieve.

At the core of the Mustang GTD’s astonishing capabilities is its supercharged 5.2-litre V8 engine, which boasts more horsepower per litre than the Porsche 911 GT3 RS. According to Greg Goodall, Mustang GTD’s Chief Program Engineer, “We’ve been laser-focused since day one to make the Mustang GTD the first-ever supercar with world-class performance and the soul of a Mustang.”

Engineering Excellence and Track-Ready Performance

One of the key highlights of the Mustang GTD is its cutting-edge active aerodynamics, which includes a Drag Reduction System (DRS). This system adjusts the angle of the rear wing and activates flaps beneath the front of the car to optimize airflow for high-speed performance or downforce, depending on the driving conditions. This technology allows the Mustang GTD to deliver maximum stability and grip at top speeds.

The Mustang car world has been abuzz in recent months as Ford seeks to reimagine the future of the Mustang while pushing further into the electric vehicle market. With Chevrolet’s Camaro reportedly eyeing an electric four-door version, the Ford Mustang stands alone as the last of the traditional American pony cars, and Ford seems eager to explore new frontiers for its iconic model.

In recent dealer meetings in Las Vegas, Ford revealed potential new Mustang concepts, including a family-oriented four-door version dubbed the “Mach 4” and a rugged, off-road variant tentatively called the “Baja.” The Mach 4, displayed as a rendering, hints at Ford’s desire to broaden the Mustang’s appeal, while the off-road model, shown in a photo, could offer Mustang enthusiasts a fresh take on performance.

Jim Farley, Ford’s CEO, has previously stated that any new Mustang variant must maintain the performance and attitude of the original. These dealer presentations suggest that the Mustang lineup could expand in unprecedented ways, catering to a more diverse range of consumers. However, it remains unclear which model is closer to production, though the photo of the “Baja” version suggests it may be further along in development.

Revving up the excitement for automotive enthusiasts, Ford has unleashed a jaw-dropping marvel: the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD. Blurring the lines between the racetrack and the road, this limited-run masterpiece takes cues from its GT3 race car counterpart, elevating the driving experience to a new echelon. Let’s dive into the exhilarating world of the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD, where cutting-edge technology meets untamed power.

The Mustang GTD derives its name from the IMSA GTD racing class, in which its GT3 variant competes in the United States. Contrary to rumours, the Mustang GTD retains its traditional front-engine layout, housing a supercharged 5.2-litre V8 in the front. While exact output figures are pending, Ford’s target exceeds 800hp, marking the automaker’s most powerful Mustang to date. The engine boasts a redline surpassing 7,500 rpm and incorporates a titanium exhaust with an active valve system.

Shortly after news broke about Ford’s plans to reveal a mid-engined Mustang at Monterey Car Week, a video of the new car emerged online. The footage showcases what is undoubtedly the most extraordinary Mustang ever created.

A clip that circled the internet showcases the car known as the ‘GTD’ as it is placed on a stand. A significant point of interest is the distinct mid-engine arrangement, which deviates from the usual conventional concept. Ford appears to have positioned the engine behind the front axle, resulting in a technically mid-engined configuration, albeit different from the traditional rear mid-engined layout observed in the C8 Corvette. Alternatively, there is a chance that the engine has been cleverly installed behind the seats.

The Ford Mustang’s V8 engine is a crucial component of its character, and the business has no plans to replace it with batteries and an electric motor anytime soon.

Ford Mustang 5.0

Ford has vowed to continue selling the Mustang with an internal combustion engine and has no intention of discontinuing the model’s drivetrain. Unlike competitors Chevrolet and Dodge, whose current Mustang rivals are being killed off, with the former’s Camaro coupe and the latter’s Challenger coupe and Charger sedan due to cease production in 2024.

For the seventh time since 1964, Ford has launched a new generation of the bestselling sports coupe in the world – the Ford Mustang. As always, there is the promise of better performance and more advanced technologies but also significant is that Ford continues to invest in a product with a combustion engine, instead of going electric (although there is already the Mustang Mach-E).

“Investing in another generation of Mustang is a big statement at a time when many of our competitors are exiting the business of internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles,” said Jim Farley, CEO of Ford Motor Company. “Ford, however, is turbocharging its ICE growth plan, adding connected technology, opinionated derivatives, and hybrid options to our most profitable and popular cars – all in the Ford Blue family – on top of investing US$50 billion in electric vehicles through 2026.”
