Shell To Close 35 Petrol Stations Early Next Year

Hajiji Noor, the chief minister of Sabah, will meet with Shell Malaysia to go over plans to close 35 of the company’s petrol outlets in the state and Labuan early next year.

Hajiji stated that he was aware of the circumstance following Shell Timur Sdn Bhd’s prior confirmation that it will be closing a number of its stations in East Malaysia in order to maintain its performance, whose company manages Shell’s retail operations in Sabah and Labuan.

He will be meeting with Shell Malaysia chairman Siti Hurrairah Sulaiman to find out more about the situation and the fate of the affected retailers in Sabah and Labuan.

Mazda Resumes Rotary Engine Mass Production

Before Mazda officially confirmed the return of the rotary engine in January, there had been years of Internet rumours about the rotary engine’s comeback since the production of the RX-8 came to an end 11 years ago.

When we hear the mention of the rotary engine, we immediately think of the RX-7 or RX-8. Sadly, that was not the case here. Mazda officially confirmed the return of the rotary engine in January, but to our disappointment, it presented the MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV, a tiny crossover with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

On June 22, the company’s Ujina Plant No. 1 in Hiroshima, Japan, began mass manufacturing of the unconventional petrol engine acting as a range extender.

VinFast Posts Loss Of RM2.7 Billion Ahead Of US Listing

Even though VinFast, a Vietnamese automotive manufacturer, continues to suffer losses, it is still on track to go public in the United States before the year is through.

In the first quarter of 2023, VinFast’s net loss increased to $599 million (RM2.7 billion), according to a recent regulatory filing in the U.S. These losses occurred when manufacturing was increased, factories were built, and expenses for marketing, sales, and maintenance were incurred. VinFast may have the financial support of Pham Nhat Vuong, the wealthiest man in Vietnam, but it still needs to develop into a successful enterprise.

Grab Facing Boycott After Suspending Rider Who Confronted Singaporeans At Petrol Station

On June 16, a video of an incident from Johor Bahru was posted to TikTok before being taken down.

It showed a Malaysian Grab rider confronting two Singaporeans at a petrol station who were filling up a jerry can with fuel.

Later, the Johor police admitted the incident had taken place and said there had been a miscommunication between the two sides. They added that the police officers on the site were effective in resolving the conflict.
